We're more than halfway through my Festive Beauty series now and I'm almost ruing the day I decided to do it, almost! No, really I enjoy blogging and makeup and shoes are things I obviously like talking about, but I do wish I'd been more prepared, because I'm struggling to keep up every day. My own fault for not starting in October! I did want to alert you that I've updated the Paul & Joe cream eyeshadow swatch from the advent calendar post. I know I mentioned yesterday the other bits I also have to update, but it's been a one-thing-at-a-time kind of day. So that's done. If you missed my blog post here yesterday it was...ooh, the No7 star highlighter, very pretty. My Irregular Choice Festive Footwear I've yet to post, but yesterday was the new Chilly Chimney Clutch Bag. As always, a treat at the end of the post.

This is again not the post I intended to blog yesterday, I haven't even looked at those photos yet today, so that's also on my long to-do list! Instead I found photos of items I don't think I ever blogged about at the time; from the Clarins 2018 Shimmer & Shine Collection.

First up is the Illuminating Sculpting Powder. It comes in a mirrored gold compact with little stars and spots of snow (?) on the lid. Now this powder looks pretty inconspicuous right? You know I like a bold highlight most of the time and I didn't expect that to come from Clarins, because let me tell you, this is sparkly.

Clarins Illuminating Sculpting Powder, shimmering highlighter powder
It's honestly one of my all-time favourite highlighters, I've worn it almost constantly over the years. Imagine my utter glee (sorry) when Debenhams were closing down at the start of the year and I found this highlighter in the online clearance. I bought a back-up. Of a highlighter! I never do that, but that's how much I love it. I actually could've had more than one, but thought that might be overkill. Back when I first bought this and began using it, I'd always wished I'd bought a back-up, so getting the opportunity a few years later, I was pretty excited (but very sad about Debenhams, still). Swatching my old one today though (photo at the bottom of the post, closest to my wrist), I think it's a bit knackered, so I'm regretting not buying more. Maybe it just doesn't swatch well, you can't really see it, yet on the face it's dazzling. Whilst the powder isn't gritty, it does contain glitter and isn't totally smooth. On the face, it's like the glitters are suspended and it gives off this incredible, unexpected wet-look finish. I don't get the sheen I get with most highlighters, this is sparkling and that wet-skin look, so it won't be for those that hate a glittery highlight. Colour-wise, it's a white-gold.

Also from the same collection is the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in 09 Red Berry Glam. Now if I'm remembering correctly, the shimmering gold Honey Glam was also included in this range, it's a permanent colour in the lip oil (and my favourite along with the Mint one), but Red Berry Glam was limited edition, especially for Christmas.

Like I say the Mint and Honey Glam are favourites of mine, I've used these oils a lot over the years (and actually finished them). They have a high gloss finish, but feel more nourishing than a standard lipgloss. They don't feel as thin as most oils though, they're somewhere between an oil and gloss. The soft applicator feels so comforting on the lips too.  This shade is a festive red with lots of smooth, gold sparkles. It's absolutely stunning swatched. It's relatively sheer, but can be worn over a red lipstick for more impact. I'd highly recommend this line if you're in the market for a skincare meets makeup type of lip product.
