Flashback Beauty Friday 94: Pout Powder

Image
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items. Sorry for the no post last week, I've been struggling to keep up with very low energy levels and almost continual migraines.  However, I was determined to get something up today. Last time I shared the old genie style bottle of Urban Decay Primer Potion and today I have a couple of powder items from discontinued brand, Pout. I've featured boutique brand, Pout here many times now. They ceased trading in 2007 and anything I didn't already own, I snapped up in their clearance sales. Clearly the items today were from back when I wore makeup regularly as both are almost completely used up, a rare for me these days. The Pout packaging is so pretty, I thought they were worth keeping to photograph for these posts.

What's in My (Travel) Bag: Makeup Edit

Image
Last month I shared with you what was inside my travel bag, after I'd spent the weekend away. If you'd like to familiarise yourself with that post, click here (it'll open in a new window). That post included the skincare items I took and I'll be showing you the makeup in this one. Like I said before, I wanted to pack light, but didn't want to find myself without a necessary item. The annoying thing about your beauty bag is you need the same amount of stuff whether you're staying one night or two weeks! A lipstick is a lipstick, whether you apply it once or a hundred times, it'll stay the same size, so it wasn't as easy as my skincare edit where I packed almost entirely 'mini' items. I've tried where possible to choose lighter and smaller pieces and did a sneaky little multi-task trick that I'll tell you about later. Before I let you know exactly what was inside, here's a close-up of the bag itself. This photo (above) is f...

Monster High Monday: Picture Day Lagoona

Image
One of these days my Monster High Monday post will actually be uploaded on a Monday. Maybe! It's usually late afternoon until I sit down to start writing the post and see how the photos have turned out and by then I only have an hour or so. Plus Monday is a busy TV night for me (Hart Of Dixie (trashy I know) and hooked on Under The Dome), so I never have time for more after that. Totally going off on a tangent here, but I feel like I didn't watch anything on telly recently and all of a sudden my evening schedule is full! I've decided to watch X Factor USA again which is on twice and don't even get me started on the fact CSI: NY is on four times this week, er hello, when am I supposed to do anything?  Plus I have Covert Affairs, then our X-Factor at weekends.  Phew! Anyway yesterday was like a summers day, it was actually warm and sunny. So I thought I'd look for a nice bright dolly to replicate and of course that would involve Lagoona. Did you know the reas...

Monster High Monday: Scaris Ghoulia

Image
My lovely zombie girl Ghoulia today. The face paint on this particular doll is far from perfect (smudged lip, mistakes in the eye), but my sister and I both ordered online and I chose the dodgy makeup/perfect smooth hair while she got the decent makeup and wild mane! Anyway, I think she's an especially beautiful Ghoulia despite the little flaws. She's got a bold blue and silver eye and deep reddish plum lips. The look was quite easy to replicate actually, although the colours weren't entirely spot-on, but more about that later. So, for the eye, she has a foil-like silver which I knew I owned. The blue bit was a little more tricky to find, especially as I was looking for a matte or satin shade rather than shimmer. I started with Urban Decay Primer Potion and applied the silver side of Too Faced Ooh & Aah duo to the lid (up to the crease) only. I didn't want to apply it all over as I wanted the blue section to remain shimmer free. Then I applied th...

PHP's Beloved Beauty Bits (May/June)

Image
My Beloved Beauty Bits took a bit of a break during May, because I felt I didn't have enough items for a post. I found I've been using a lot of the same things and doing the same looks (makeup wise) for two months, hence the lack of products (especially those I haven't already reviewed). So I've combined this post for May and June. The July one I can already tell will be bursting , as I've bought and tried lots of new products. It just shows how I can go through phases. I apologise that this one is coming so late in the month, but I've just been feeling totally unmotivated lately. I have half written posts and so many photos I've taken (so I've done all the hard work), there's just something stopping me getting on with it. Completely procrastinating! Anyway here we go. Three products in this post have actually been my favourites to achieve the one look. You may have noticed that almost every single day for the past two months (and even this ...
