Superdrug: Galactic Queen Fantasy Brush Set £20

Image
[Post contains affiliate links] I have a bit of a weakness when it comes to pretty looking makeup brushes. Don't get me wrong, I need them to be functional too, but if there's a fancy finished handle or coloured bristles, I'm there! I spied these Fantasy brushes , online at Superdrug and it was love at first sight. Called "Galactic Queen", they live up to their name with a shaped handle in a shimmering green and purple, colour shift finish. The big fluffy heads have black to purple ombre hairs and they just look luscious. Let's be real though, "needing" and "wanting" new brushes are two different things, so in my head, I could only buy them if I was getting a super good deal, so I hung off. I'd kinda forgotten about them, until the weekend when I had a nosy and each brush had £1 off. Nothing too exciting. Then I noticed, you could buy all 6 for £20 , that's better! I got distracted looking at other stuff and naturally by ...

Makeup Revolution & MUA: £1 Lip Swatches

Image
I recently had to order replacement toothbrush heads, exciting I know (!) and while doing so, I thought I'd check out the makeup. As you know, I'm a big beauty buff, but rarely manage to wear makeup these days, though I have maintained my usual skin and body care routines. For the past year, I've been aiming to wear makeup on the rare occasions I do leave the house and am starting to buy makeup again. It seemed so wasteful when I was very ill, to buy stuff I'd never get the chance to use at the time. It's an area I'm still hugely interested in though, so I've been keeping an eye on new releases (GWP's are still my ultimate weakness), but I'd say I've been spending more on skincare and less on makeup, when it used to be the other way around. I'm also keen to get back into blogging regularly about beauty and hope this is something you'll be interested in seeing here. So back to the toothbrush head order and I saw it was 3 for 2 on ma...

Swatches: MUA Lipstick

Image
I know, I know, what is this? A beauty post? Surely not! It's definitely been a long time since we've had one, mostly down to me not wearing makeup. I feel kinda sad when I see all my pretty palettes and lipsticks, sitting unused, but writing about them and not having the energy to use them is worse. Avoidance, I'm good at that apparently. Well I took these photos in the summer after a little makeup haul. Obviously I'm rarely buying makeup these days, because it seems silly to, but these were mega cheap and I saw them online and thought I'd give them a try. I was getting a free palette or something at the time...there's no offer on them currently, but they are £1 each. As my Mum would say "you cannae go wrong with that"!

Swatches: Lancome Christmas Beauty Box

Image
Better late than never, here are the rest of the swatches from my big beauty haul the other week (click for the original post ). We'll start with the Hello Kitty nude lipstick in Baby Doll from Superdrug. Swatches show it layered (top) versus a couple of swipes (bottom) and with and without the flash.  It's got an orangey tone to it, so it's not a true nude in my opinion, but I think it could look quite pretty with a gloss layered over it perhaps. Next is the Lancome 'Les Paillettes Aux Yeux' in 20 Lumieres de Paris. I mentioned last time that the little pot is quite nifty with only a little hole to pour the loose powder from. Hopefully if you drop or spill it, only a little or none would come out. As for when you do want the powder out, I've found tapping it out onto the back of my hand, then using either my finger or brush to apply to my lids has worked fine. The swatches on this one weren't as accurate as I'd have liked. When I've be...

Massive Beauty Haul (Lancome, YSL, Hello Kitty)

Image
Hello! On Thursday, I went shopping with my Mum. Lately shopping has purely existed of buying baby things for my friends kids and my nephews and getting a head-start on the Christmas gifts; so it was nice to be somewhat selfish and shop for myself (although that's not to say I haven't bought anything for myself lately)! It was beauty products I was after and although I had my MAC Marilyn Monroe haul recently, I've not been in Boots for months and tried hard not to buy anything other than freebies with my Debenhams beauty rewards, because we all know I'm drowning in cosmetics and don't exactly need more. This time I had £20 on my card (burning a hole in my purse) and with news of new Christmas collections, GWP's and a festive beauty box, it was safe to say the £20 went fast! This is a mammoth post and I wanted to get the pictures up as quickly as possible, so there are no swatches yet.  I can, if you're interested, swatch them this week?  So, I'...
