Flashback Beauty Friday 18: Lancôme Bamboo Star Bronzer

A beautiful limited edition product for you this week, but first, if you missed the slightly different post from usual last week, then you can find the Urban Decay lipstick evolution here. Flashback Beauty Friday is a little reminisce each week of older, discontinued or limited edition beauty items. This week, I have the rather long titled Lancôme Star Bronzer, Limited Edition Bamboo Powder, Compact Bronzing Powder & Blush, Body and Face. Phew! It's also known as the Tropiques Mineral Bamboo Bronzer, Temptingly Bronze, but there's no mention of this on my compact (I don't have the box any longer). This launched for their Bronze Riviera (Summer 2010) collection, a time when Lancôme tended to release a new limited edition bronzing compact each year.
The size of this thing is what first strikes you, it's comparable to a CD and contains a massive 40g of product. Most bronzers tend to be 8-10g, I have a few "big" bronzing compacts which are 20g. I've compared it here to an 8g MAC powder.
The outer compact is a smooth bronze with a slightly domed lid and a large mirror inside.
The bronzer itself is intended for the face and body, hence the size, but I'd like statistics on the number of people who have managed to swatch or use this. Props to you if you have, I couldn't, it's absolutely stunning!
Obviously given it's name, it has this bamboo image, but the actual surface of the powder has a linen like texture which is super unique. There's a pink sun setting with the bamboo silhouetted and it just has this really chilled back, holiday vibe to it. I can practically hear the waves gently crashing against the shore!
As far as I know the metallic finish is largely an overspray. The bronzer itself does have a slight sheen to it, but much more subtle than the surface and the pink sun will disappear after it's swatched a few times.
This is one of these products I could just happily stare at forever without ever feeling the need to use it. It's just so lovely. Do you remember this one?
