Today I have my final 40th birthday shoes to share, Dolce & Gabbana red sequins shoes.

As I've previously said, I bought 4 pairs last year as an extra special treat for turning 40, but usually buy one for myself on (or around) my birthday each year. These are from their Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. I absolutely love finding old pieces like this, that I've seen in catwalk images countless times, but never thought I'd one day own. The uppers are the most gorgeous red in the flesh, really rich and pretty. The micro sequins are layered for a textured look and then you have these beads and embellishments at the toe.

The real statement though is the strapping, all three in different colours, materials and with different buckles. Obviously that jewelled centre buckle is my fave and I rather like the purple velvet strap too. When you look at them from the side, you can even see they're all attached with different shaped rivets too.

They have a really supportive heel, quite chunky and a pointed toe. It's not elongated and the vamp is cut quite low. I generally find D&G quite small fitting; these are a 38.5 and just fit. I think the 38 might've been a bit tight.  I adore the quilting inside too.

I'll link to my previous 3 pairs below. Other than the doubling up of Dolce, I think I've managed a little variety with my choices and picked 2 brands I'd never bought from before. I didn't have a plan, just pounced when I could afford it and saw something I wanted and I did have a couple of pairs that didn't work out, but got there in the end.  It's just over 7 weeks until my birthday, I've absolutely no idea what or if I'll be able to buy a pair this year. Money has been tight and I haven't been able to save, so it may have to wait a while.  There's no rush, it's not like I'm going anywhere!

First pair were Midnight00 Shell in black and gold spot tulle.  A brand and style I've long been intrigued by.

Second buy were the Dolce & Gabbana raffia mules from SS17, a lucky find of only one pair in my size.  I've long ogled these.

Third pair were Vetements Eiffel Tower boots, very plain sock boots, but awesome, detailed heel.
