Dan Sullivan: Got The Hump

I've finally had time to edit the photos of my new Dan Sullivan wedges. If you follow The Shoe Girl Diaries, you'll have already seen them on my feet here and I'd mentioned on Facebook that I'd bought them. I was really torn with which colour to pick, after eyeing these from before they even launched. My gut feeling was to go for the navy pair, so that's what I ordered. When they arrived (in their 'navy' box), they were actually the wrong colour! I got the pink pair instead. They were too stunning to part with and it was such a small difference anyway as they are basically multi-coloured and this pair happen to have a lot of green and blue that were in the other version anyway.
They are my third Dan Sullivan purchase and maybe my most wearable, given the large cat on Gypsy Girl Rose and the entire toy factory in Visionary Viper! Next to those, a colourful camel doesn't seem quite so extravagant!
The basic heel shape resembles that of Irregular Choice's Viola Virus and The Big L that we were first introduced to last summer. The gold heel curves and the base at the heel-end tapers (although I've seen narrower). Despite the large heel and platform (6" and 1 1/2" respectively), you do feel like you're walking on a solid base and feel relatively 'safe'. I'm extremely tall in them though, so if you're already self conscious in that department, then these aren't for you!
They have a peep toe and feel true to size. They have a little extra room in the heel (similar to Long(er) Lashes boots by IC), but not even to warrant going down a size. I love the metallic (yay non scratchy!) insole with the super adorable DS cat logo. The sole is a colourful version of the kissing kids that feature on the box. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this with my other pairs, but when you open the lid of the box, the inside 'shelf' actually pops up with your shoes. Like a tilting thing, did any of that make sense?
The camel itself is made up of various colours of fabric (mostly moleskin-like with the exception of the metallic saddle) and has the prettiest face! I love that the design continues around the shoe and you can see the camel tail on the platform at the front of the peep toe. The amazing gold rope and large pink tassel really finish it off and give that 3-d effect.  Given that there are so many colours in the uppers, I can see me being able to wear them with many things.
I'm hoping they are the type of shoe that I could wear with black tights in winter, that will see me through all seasons (well maybe not snow-drifts).  What do you think, love them or loathe them?  I adore them : )

    1. Yes, both colours went real fast when they were reduced further in the sale. They still had the ankle boot, but I wasn't too sure about the tassels over the peep toe when I saw the photo on the foot.

    1. Aw that's a pity, although I hate seeing people trying to walk in heels that can't, so good on you for doing what you can manage. Personally I can't walk in flats at all, I feel like I'm falling backwards and my legs and feet just have no idea what to do!

  6. LOVE them!!! And the packaging looks very cute too :)

Although with my height (5'11'' or 180 cm) I guess I would be a bit frightening in them..

    1. Yes, you'd be through the roof in these! I'm only 5'5" and yet am seen as a 'giant' in my family, but I think it's all down to the fact I never wear flats!

  7. They're lovely. I love the colourful cross stitch look they have and the gold wedges are lovely. I love the way the sole of the shoe is wider than the wedge!
The sole design is cute too! :) Xx
