Irregular Choice: 'Flopsy' First Pics

Got a lot of financial stress going on right now or rather a lack of finances altogether and not through spending for once! I won't bore you with my problems but suffice to say the arrival of this package went some way to cheering me up today and I quickly took these photos as I spent the rest of the day babysitting my nephews (playing a rather grotesque shark game on the i-pad)!  These shoes were the one item I was allowing myself to buy, no matter how dire my finances were, so on Friday, I along with many others, sat biting my nails and refreshing the Irregular Choice web page at 12pm, waiting for the arrival of the much anticipated bunny heels!
It's the first time I've known Irregular Choice to be so specific about not only a release day but time. I truly haven't experienced anything like this over a pair of shoes and suspect IC are the same! It's because these shoes are so freakin' adorable and without blowing my own trumpet, I like to think I played a part in creating some buzz for them before their launch (well I did, as many people were unaware of their existence before spotting them here and on my social media). I was slightly cursing myself for blabbing about them though, because I knew stock was limited and after months of waiting and such a tense time towards the release date, I worried I'd miss out altogether.  I was freaking out as it had gone from buying online to phone orders, to reserving pairs to a free for all and first come first served! I did get them though, as you can tell from the images and the post!
I was really unsure which size to order, so had a last minute panic and bought the 5/38 and 6/39 with my Mum being kind enough to lend me the money there and then (thankfully my small eBay sales this weekend have paid for one pair)! I'm soooo glad to have had the option of both sizes, because the 5/38 (my regular size) actually feel very small. I measured them and they are 24.5cm which does equate to a standard 38, but my toes feel squished and are scrunching up/curling under (hate that) when I slide my foot in. The 6/39 feel a little large I have to admit, but I think for comfort sake, I would be better sticking with them. The 5 might stretch a little with wear, but it seems silly to make an uncomfortable shoe work, when I have a comfortable pair in my possession.
As you can see I went for the blue spotty Flopsy. I seriously considered the black pair, because it was obvious I'd get more wear out of them and they'd go with practically everything in my wardrobe, but the spotty were that little bit different. I actually love the shoe minus the bunny heel anyway. It's got a lovely rounded front, stubby looking toe and lace up front. They remind me a little of the Graphic Geek's (I have a teal suede split-toe pair but they came in a non-split version) a few years back. They're just a really cute, little shoe-boot.
The heel itself is adorable and just as I expected. It's reasonably weighty and the ribbon around the neck goes through a hole at each side. There's pink shading to the bunny and it's just really amazing. I personally think £99.99 is a good price for something of this standard. You pay for statement heels of any kind, so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the price point.
I was also pretty excited to get my first new season box, featuring the gorgeous cowgirl and she's on the sole too. One of my favourite seasonal designs I think. There is still limited stock available of this style (black sold out online but go onto the website for details of phone orders) and remember there is also the black or red mary-jane Thumper.  No word yet on the purple Binky I posted a while back, but given that they're not on the Hong Kong site yet (which received Flopsy and Thumper long before us), I doubt they're coming soon.  I also want to add how impressed I am with the service and speedy delivery.  Ordering these on Friday, they were dispatched in the afternoon and I received them first thing this morning (Monday), which is brilliant.  I'm absolutely thrilled with my shoes and look forward to wearing them on The Shoe Girl Diaries once this blasted snow has gone (yeah again, what is up with that)? They are definitely shoes I will treasure forever. Did you manage to get a pair?

  1. I have a pair waiting for me, which I'm not allowed to open until my birthday. Lent was not the time to give up spending, but luckily a lovely friend has offered to get them for my buirthday and I'm so excited. Although I'm a little worried if they're small on the sizing, as maybe I should have gone for a 41 :( Apparently they arrived safely yesterday, whcih I think is impressive too, I think he ordered online and went for the free delivery!

    1. Is there ever a good time to give up spending?! Lucky you getting them as a b'day gift though. yes I just went with free del as well, considered next day just incase those orders got priority over regular ones! Well I could still get my foot in the 5, they just didn't feel comfortable and like I said my toes were curling under, but with tights I think it would've helped and you usually wear tights don't you?

  2. I've ordered these but not had the best service. I placed my order at 12:04 on the Friday only to receive an email to tell me that not all pairs were perfect so they couldn't ship that day which is fair enough. I went into the site yest and the 39 were in stock but I was told I couldn't have a pair if in stock shoes sent and mine might be shipped Wednesday ! I replied to ask why I couldn't be sent a pair that were in stock and no reply at all :( glad you got a pair xx

    1. I had the same email and I received an email from Emma at the IC customer service team stating they should be shipping tomorrow! I was gutted too, but they should be with us soon :) did you get a size 41 as they said to me it was the 41's that had the problem. It is really frustrating though isn't it! Xx

    3. hopefully you'll get them this week then. I have no idea how they work their system of allocation, but it seems strange that someone could order AFTER you did and get the shoes before you because you have to wait because "your pair" weren't perfect. I'm not sure why they don't just allocate you another pair in that size straight away because you should take priority having ordered first and it's not your fault. I'm pleased they didn't just send a not so perfect pair and expect you to put up with it though. I'm glad they were honest.

    4. i got an email last night to say to say they were on their way so yey!!!!! i ordered the 6 sometimes I'm a 5 and sometimes a 6 after reading your post I'm glad i went for the bigger size as i would have cried if they were too small and then they didn't have the 6 in stock ! so glad you got your pair the black seems to have been more popular than the polkadot but i thought it would have been the other way round xx

    5. Glad to hear it! Yes that was my worry and by the time they arrived it would be too late. Yes, I was surprised the black sold out first, perhaps they had less stock.

  3. Personally, I would've loved these with another heel, I'm not very keen on the bunnies. But it's very obvious that you are crazy about them and had been waiting for a long time to get these to you, so I'm happy for you! Can't wait to see what you pair them with.

    1. No! You don't like the bunnies? The shoe itself is very pretty besides the bunnies, which is a bonus. Thank you, trying to think of an outfit already!

    2. I know I'm so sick of it. We've pretty much had constant snow since November here in Germany and today I slipped on the ice and fell on my bum, ow. Was wearing flat boots too! I love snow but now I'm sick of it. We had one day of sun two weeks ago and I sat in the park with a magazine and DIDN'T WEAR A COAT!

  7. I missed out on them and I've devestated. They just had to come out mid-month when I get paid on the last working day :( There are still some in the black maryjanes in my size, and one up, but it's just not as nice as the blue spots :(

    1. Pleased to hear it. Haha, I've been the same, I don't want to wear them when it's snowing or there's grit outside as I want to keep them clean!

  9. I love these so much! I think i'd have trouble styling them with an outfit, but then again, I'm known to buy shoes just to display, because really, some shoes ARE art!
