Flashback Beauty Friday 8: Pout Eye Shadow
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifts.
Week 8 of Flashback Beauty Friday and if you're new here, this series is a chance to reminisce about old limited edition or discontinued beauty products and to appreciate their beautiful or sometimes odd packaging! Last week was the Dior Twist lipstick compact and today it's Pout Eye Shadow.
I loved Pout, absolutely loved them. They had the cutest little pink boutique in Covent Garden, though I bought online. Unfortunately they ceased trading many years ago (2007) and I bought absolute shed-loads of stock in their closing down sale. Quite honestly, almost everything they ever made! These eyeshadows were not limited edition, just their regular line and look at that beautiful packaging. Lace and bows featured heavily in the Pout aesthetic, they had a very feminine, boudoir, retro feel. The strong card compacts are turquoise with a lace design and real ribbon bow, closing magnetically. Some were singles, most were duos. All of these are just my green shades, I have many more!
The shades were named after either places or months, so you had Miss May, Miss December, Miss USA, Miss Egypt etc and yes, they made a Miss Scotland and of course I have it (a mossy and khaki green duo).
If there was a beauty brand I could bring back, it would most likely be Pout. Their products weren't just pretty to look at, they were of excellent quality. They really appealed to me and more than that, I always felt good using them because they were quite special to me. Their blushes and Pout Plump lipgloss were iconic. Much missed, I'm actually sad writing this post!
