BeneFit Shangri-La Sheers Lipstick Picked Up In Paradise
I've been unintentionally posting eyeshadows for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd change to lips, with a really lovely limited edition piece from BeneFit. The Unicorn Tears liquid eyeshadow from Too Faced was my trip down memory lane last week if you missed that.

This is the BeneFit Shangri-La Sheers Lipstick in Picked Up In Paradise. The limited edition release consisted of three lipstick shades and three blushes (I have those for you another time, they used to be some of my favourite blushers), which launched around 2004.

The cheeks and lips coordinated, so you had a pink blush and lipstick, coral or lavender. My lipstick is the lavender one; Picked Up In Paradise, a suitably cute name for this collection and the brand. Although these lippies look quite intense and maybe somewhat scary in the tube, they actually apply more like a tinted lip balm; sheer and shiny, which you can see in my swatch below.

The packaging is what really had me fawning over this line. Back in the early Noughties, I always coveted the BeneFit releases, their branding was so unique and I always felt like it was a real special treat and I was super lucky to own anything by them. I don't know if I've become accustomed to pretty makeup or if they're just not launching anything that grabs me now, but I don't feel that same excitement when I look at their stuff.

The black casing was slightly tapered with a green print winding around the case. The domed tip of the base had an organza ribbon hanging out of it, which felt so different to anything else on the market at the time.

Isn't it cute? Do you remember this line?

  1. hi, do you remember the name of the pink one? I loved these! I feel like the new tinted balm (the California kissin' color) are a very similar formula, although its been nearly 20 years since these Shangri-la's were around so it really could be the same formula just re-branded.

    1. You'll Never-Never Land Me I think was the pink one. That's good to know, I actually bought a few of the CK ones a while back but haven't gotten around to swatching or trying them yet. I thought the packaging on them was so cute, reminded me of old BeneFit x
