Last week I posted Urban Decay Precious Metals, little diamond shaped cream eyeshadows and today I have another old eyeshadow you can no longer buy.

The Too Faced Shimmer Veils were a collection of shimmer liquid eyeshadows, launching for Autumn/Winter 2007. Or at least I think they were. The box says 2005, I found a snippet from 2006, but more information on that 2007 date, which made me think that was correct.

In lipgloss style packaging, the clear bottles showed the colour of shadow inside, with pale pink metallic lids in a pinched shape. The curly font and bouffant pin-up logo always make me feel nostalgic for old TF.  Inside was a slanted doe-foot sponge applicator, so colour could be easily swiped onto the lid.

The box read "Steal the spotlight and insure your place on the A-list with Shimmer Veils glittering eye glosses. Let your lids explode with disco ball glamour for hours of crease-proof colour and shine. Application tips: Subtle & sheer; begin at lash line and gently apply a sheer amount of product over entire eye lid in a steady, sweeping motion. Allow to dry before re-applying so shimmer stays put. Full glam; use a slow dabbing motion for a more dramatic coverage starting from the inner eye out towards the ears. Don't forget to re-load up pigment after a few dabs. Allow to dry before re-applying."

There were 6 shades in the line, all with suitably delightful names. Too Faced were well ahead of the pack with the unicorn craze and the shade I had, was called Unicorn Tears (a shade name they've used more recently on several items including lipstick, highlighter and bronzer).  My sole reason for buying it, I might add! I saw it in the shop and the thought of a unicorn crying had me all emotional, so in the basket it went. It now reminds me of the scene in Legend Of The Blue Sea where Se-Hwa (mermaid) cries pearls (oh to be a mermaid 😉). Unicorn Tears, is actually the colour I'd have most likely picked for myself even without that name. It was a cool toned silver/pewter and I've swatched it, but please remember how old this is. It's really not in good shape in the bottle, the red rust splodges inside the bottle are not reflections, but the product going weird and separating, but I got a swatch nonetheless. Truthfully, I can't remember if it looked like this at the time...I feel it used to be more glittery (and obviously had a smoother finish).

The other shades were, Angel Hair (copper), Fairy Wings (neutral with silver glitter), Firefly (beige), Nymph-Oh! (hot pink with purple sparkle) and Pixie Dust (lime base with green glitter).
