Last week I shared the 'too pretty to use' Butterflies Fever powder from Lancôme and today I'm heading back to a MAC collection that I've already shared a couple of pieces from previously.

Venomous Villains was the title of the Autumn 2010 collection by MAC, which brought together 4 villains from Disney animations. Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Dr Facilier from The Princess & The Frog, The Evil Queen from Snow White and Maleficent of Sleeping Beauty fame.

This is the Beauty Powder in Briar Rose from the Maleficent line. Finishes and pigment can vary greatly in the BP range, meaning the use of the product can change. This one is definitely a blush shade for me and I'm sure it would also work as such, even on darker complexions. I'd describe it as orchid coloured; a bold pink with cool, violet undertones.

Obviously a finger swatch on the arm is a lot more intense than the powder applied with a brush onto the cheeks, but you can see how much colour there is from a generous swipe. I haven't altered the colours at all in the swatch pic, I'm trying not to edit swatches these days, whilst trying to photograph them as close to real life as possible. It can be quite a tricky shade to wear, for me anyway, with that strong purple tone, it can look a bit unnatural and kind of sit on top of the skin. It's been a long time since I've worn this, but I do remember it also creating a beautiful flush of colour sometimes, it just depended on how I applied it/what I applied it with.

The round compact is glossy black with a raised centre and a coloured image of Maleficent.

The boxes were all black with a one-colour line sketch of the character, which worked it's way around the edges of the box.  For Maleficent, this was purple.
