Flashback Beauty Friday 33: Hard Candy Eye Candy Eye Shadow
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
Sorry for posting so late, but I went rummaging today for new items for these posts and photographed them all and it took time. I did ask myself why I chose the hottest day of the year to do it (!), but I had and still have my fan blasting me in the face...not that it's helping now (just getting hotter). Today was a success though, I found some things that I'm really excited about including these wee compacts, but first, last week if you missed it, was the limited edition Opium Powder Palette by YSL.
Flashback to the early 00's and Hard Candy were one of the most sought after beauty brands. I always compare them to Urban Decay, who were equally fun and popular in that era, but UD were as gritty and edgy as HC were pastel and cutesy. These were their single eyeshadows, called Eye Candy and no surprise that they came in adorable, candy like packaging.
The chunky round plastic case has a lid that slides up, with a rectangular eyeshadow pan inside. The heart logo featured in white on the front with the shade sticker on the back. They came in blue, pink or green and although this isn't my full collection (I found others after taking these photos, annoyingly), I have a mix of all three outer colours.
The shade names are adorable, I'm sure you can guess which colour belongs to which name here. Licorice, Cotton Candy, Popsicle, Peppermint Patty, Spearmint and Sour Apple. Some shades have shimmer, others are more a satin finish. I didn't have time to swatch these, but I remember some being quite sheer, which I think they were intended to be.
I have very fond memories of collecting Hard Candy back in the day. They made makeup and the collecting of it, fun. Do you remember these?
