Flashback Beauty Friday is a chance to reminisce with a look back at old limited edition or discontinued beauty products and their packaging. Last week I posted MAC's Bite Of An Apple Blush from their Disney Villains release and today I have a limited edition powder from Yves Saint Laurent, which seemed apt for Valentine's.

The Love Collection launched at YSL for Spring 2007 and this is the Compact Powder For The Complexion. Snappy name I know!

The sleek silver compact boasts a red heart in the centre and comes with it's own velvet pouch and sponge puff.

I'm not sure if it's intended to be an illuminating powder (by mixing the colours) or whether you are to use the pink shimmering heart as a blush and the textured background as a face powder. I certainly can't see the puff it came with being of any use! I'd probably try a smaller brush and use the colours separately as I think the pink looks quite pigmented and may deposit too much colour for an all over the face job.

Hearts are to YSL what stars are to Christian Dior, something that became a sort of lucky charm for the founding designer and their brands and therefore something you'll see a lot of in both their fashion and beauty lines.

I think this powder is super cute, but after looking at it today, I'm keen to try it. I think it looks like it'll be quite nice! I keep toying with starting up Too Pretty To Swatch (where I use overly pretty products rather than keeping them pristine)...I just struggle! I very much go from one extreme to the other. I know once I'm gone my family will bin the lot, so really I should just use it, but then again, it's nice having them untouched when you're collecting them. What if you use it only to hate it and never use it again, but now you've ruined it? That would be a waste. There are definitely far more pressing things to worry about in life, I'm just thinking out loud! Anyway, I uncovered loads of my old YSL palettes today, been having a right rummage (absolutely knackered) and started reorganising my makeup storage.  It's a big task and I wasn't going to do any today as I was in so much pain from yesterday, but it was niggling at me because I remembered something I hadn't put in the drawer and it needed reorganising after finding an entire box of things I forgot the day before.  So I persevered and my blush drawer is filled to bursting.  One drawer down, seven to go!  I'm in a tidying mood, I just wish I had the energy for it (not helped by jumping up to see the snow every 5 minutes).  What have you been up to this week?

  1. That sure does look amazing :-D

OMG I have been snowed in for a few days. Was out today with the wee one to see the ducks and shopping. Hope this is the last of it!

    1. Nothing really sticks here, we don't get snow often enough in my opinion either! My sister lives about 20 minutes away (further inland) and always gets much worse than we do. Mind you, I hate when it's going and it's that slushy way or icy, just like the fresh easy to walk on stuff.
