Flashback Beauty Friday 5: Stila Sakura Face Powder

Another beautiful piece for Flashback Beauty Friday this week, but I'd like to start by wishing you all a happy and healthy new year. "Lang may yer lum reek" and all that! Last week, I picked the fabulous and very tiny Lancôme Precious Carat, this week I have a very unusual Stila powder.

There's not a lot of information on this and I think even at the time I bought it, it was a lucky find. I suspect it was an Asian exclusive, it certainly didn't appear to be widely available. It's got the very uninspired name of "Face Powder No.1", from the Sakura collection around 15 years ago.  I bought this, fully knowing I'd never swatch or use it...to be honest it looks like it might be quite chalky, so I don't think I'm missing out. The packaging itself is nothing exciting (pink plastic base with domed clear twist-off lid), but the illustration on the powder, of the girl in her kimono, with makeup brush in hand, is absolutely stunning. Seriously beautiful and I'd never want to ruin that. There's sporadic surface glitter (looks like it might be rough!) that twinkles so beautifully in the light, but I don't think it goes deeper into the powder (I might be wrong).

I can't say I ever browse Stila stuff these days, but I used to be so taken with their illustrations like this which they used on palette covers. I think if you're a long, long time blog follower, you might remember me blogging about this one back in the day actually!
