I've had a good few weeks of ticking some Spring/Summer 2020 handbags off my Irregular Choice wishlist. I've been overspending the past couple of years, so I'm trying to change my buying habits this year and not dive in the moment I see something and wait it out until sale time (unless it's very special/limited). Of course there's the risk it sells out, so it's stressful and doesn't always work, but I am trying!
Kitty Kommittee gave me the most hassle here. I love this style of bag, it's such a convenient size and Flounder (the black fish one from a few years back) is one of my most used bags. So when I saw KK, I knew I wanted it, but I'd wait until it was a bit cheaper...of course it sold out from all the indies, then I no joke, bought it about 3 times from IC and every time, got the email of doom saying it was out of stock. I wouldn't say I like it as much as Monty, he's one of my faves, but I did still want it in my collection. Tomi then alerted me to one on eBay recently and I snagged it for slightly cheaper than retail. I stress myself out, honestly! It's a very silly bag, but I'm down with that. It's got the lilac fur on the back that's like so many other bags in my collection and oh so soft. I'm not sure I'm keen on the feel of the base and handle. It's actually sparkly which I didn't realise, but it's got a bit of grip, kinda rubbery but not really thing going on. Anyway, glad I got it, shame they didn't make the purse with the glasses (Miss Messy) into a bag though, I would've succumbed to that one right away!
What A Spread is the oldest buy in my post. I got it locally after lockdown, the shop were running a 20% off promotion after being shut for months, so I sent my parents down to have a look at what I could get! They also had the sushi one, but as it wasn't a huge discount, I decided to wait for that. I think I may photograph this style of bag next for my handbag collection series. They're a bit of a plaster to get into (zip opening under the studded flap, which doesn't open widely), but the gingerbread house one is again one of my most used bags. This one seems particularly irritating with the baguette and sandwich kinda needing tucked into the front flap. I love it though. That picnic theme is right up my street, I adore the gingham and floral, the basket feel and lifelike grapes.
Same shape, the Sushi Dreams bag I managed to get recently on Amazon for less than half price, again thanks to the wonderful Tomi! The kitty sushi bar idea is adorable and what stunning fabrics and colours. I love that bright turquoise with the purple and this is why I photographed these bags from the sides, so you could see how beautiful this one is.
All of these bags come with longer, adjustable straps by the way, which I didn't photograph. Another couple I managed to check off my list and the first IC summer sale haul I placed, were from eclectic shoes on eBay (if you know, you know, they are marvellous), again thanks to Tomi. I didn't buy the sushi from their eBay shop, I thought I'd wait as it wasn't super cheap and actually it was their Amazon shop I got it from, but annoyingly, I could've saved myself another £15 if I'd bought this Picture Show bag from their Amazon instead of eBay. I still saved £45, so it was a decent enough sale price I suppose. There's not a huge amount of bags this shape, but they are beautiful inside (a zipped partition in the middle separating into two compartments). I got the similar Hippokampos in the January sales. The cinema concept is amazing, I think it's so detailed and unusual. My only gripe, besides the style names not being totally to my tastes (!) is the gold framing being a bit misshapen from being packed in plastic all this time. I've had it sitting out since it arrived, but it's still curling along the top and it's just not stiff enough to straighten out. Again it has a short fixed handle, then a longer one to attach at the sides. The back isn't mega exciting, but the front and inside more than make up for that.
The other one I got, I also bought the matching shoes and that's Rocko Roller to go with one of the many new colourways of Rocko that launched in Spring. This was also less than half price. This one is quite nostalgic for me, because it's based on one of the old round bags which came with the record print to match the many shoe variations at the time. I never owned that bag, but that's why I've loved collecting that shape and seeing it back in recent years (think I probably said that in my collective post). Although it has the same record theme, the shape and size have totally changed for 2020. It's smaller, softer and comes with a longer strap, but no fixed handle. Out of all the colours, I just had to have this green, it's much deeper than the stock photos, I'd call it "bold mint". I love that checked sequins design around the side too.
I'll likely show you these in more detail at some point, but I just wanted to share quick pics of my hauls for now.

Ahh! They are all so cute! I love the Kitty Kommittee one! My dream bag is the Tonkasaurus-Rex or the Dalonyx one! I'm yet to own one of their bags.
ReplyDeleteGood choices! It took me a long time to pluck up the courage to spend a lot on one of their bags. I think the cat Purrfect Pose was my first and I wasn't disappointed.
DeleteThose are all great bag choices Gemma! I love the rocko round bags like you do, I wish I'd bough the white one! You made me laugh with the Kitty Kommittee bag, so pleased we managed to track one down. Sounds like you have done great with bag bargains this season though!
ReplyDeleteIt's now going to be the biccy one that haunts me! The trying not to buy right away at full price thing, doesn't always work out well!
