Irregular Choice Bear Shoes
Bears are rather prevalent in the Irregular Choice AW15 range, but actually when I look back at my collection, they've been a recurring theme over the years. I took these photos a couple of months ago (before another bear joined the gang) and count 14 bear print, heel, charm or otherwise shoes. I had no idea I owned so many! So I thought we'd take a closer look at my collection and also those from the new range.
Starting with the diamante ankle boot (centre right) called Endangered. These have a platform wedge heel with large 'hole' cut out and a huge jewelled panda on the side.
Going clockwise, next are Little Fish, a metallic green ankle boot which can be worn several ways. Dangling from the back is a large white teddy. As it's soft, it's not bothersome swinging about when you're walking, but it can be taken off and used as a charm elsewhere if you wish.
The red Time For Teddy are a double whammy with an all-over vintage toy print on the uppers (including bike riding bears), then a removable gold metallic bear face across the back. It fastens with studs at either side and reminds me of a superhero cape (probably the red and blue Superman colours adding to that).
Next are the black Tian Tian panda heels from this year, then the gold heeled, fluffy bear Squeezy from this season, next to pink Tian Tian.
The blue sandals were a recent eBay find called Hot Shot. All over the uppers are floral, jointed teddies. There's even one on the strap at the back of the heel.
My Dan Sullivan 'Visionary Viper' include many charms and at least one bear!
Hiding behind them are Dolly Mixture, a green suede court with plastic charms and beads on the front. The turquoise one in the centre is a bear and there's a large bear on the sole too.
In amongst cactus, deer, teepees and bows and arrows on Trixxie you'll find a feather head-dress wearing bear, warming itself by a campfire.
My gingham teddy Love Games again feature a vintage style print and these came with knee-high leg spatz in matching fabric.
The peachy cortesan has grey bears with wings and bunny ears in the print as well as a brooch on the front (I have the matching bag for these too).
Unlike their name, Cougar Cubs feature a panda face on the toe and a perspex heel with pom pom trim around the shoe. These and Endangered also have panda soles.
Finally the black patent Paw Paw came with several attachments which fastened with a stud to the top of the shoe. The most interesting for me, were the bear faces, which are always on mine.
I've since added the adorable Tiny Ted to this assortment, which are without a doubt one of my favourite styles this season (and indeed ever). They feature a flat but furry teddy down the centre and a perspex heel.
Other bear styles this season include, Kandy Kane, a mint ankle boot with little teddy charms attached and there's a matching Bear Love bag.
Izzy Bear are definitely on my wishlist and feature the same charms, with the "heel-less" style wedge. I love these. Squeezy is also still available in some sizes in black or brown along with the supersize Fierce bag.
Who knew bear shoes were a "thing"? I certainly didn't realise I'd bought so many or that they were all so different to one another. It seems there is no limit to bear shoe designs! What about you, can you think of any you own or perhaps another animal more frequently appears in your wardrobe?

Wow, how many there are! You know I'm not keen on bears on shoes (very irrational- not sure why!) but I like the subtle prints (and of course the pandas and Squeezy!)xx
ReplyDeleteI know there are many more panda pairs that I don't have! Yeah it's a bit of a strange one because it's not like you dislike bears...just on shoes!
DeleteThere are a few IC shoes that I wish I'd bought at the time. Those Trixxie heels are one of those. I adore the uppers, I love the heel. Everything about them is perfect! I love the Izzy Bear's - hoping they still have my size when the sale comes (and that they're in the sale!!) xx
ReplyDeleteI agree...things seems to be selling really quickly this season and it looks unlikely there will be what we want left for the sale : ( I've definitely felt pressure to buy now or else miss out and like you say there are some that haunt you for life!
DeleteHow do i order these shoes! Everything i cluck on takes me to something besides a ordering page
ReplyDeleteEvery link in this post is working and takes me to the IC website to order. I didn't include links for the older styles because they don't exist now. Which shoes in particular were you after?
DeleteOh, what a super collection of bears. I love the blue and white bear print you have on Love Games - I think it's Tea and Cake which I have in that print. I also have been searching for those Hot Shot sandals for soooo long, I'd love to add those to my collection some day. I really love Tiny Ted too, so comfy. Izzy Bear are a pair you have to be *really* careful walking in as the charms are pretty liable to hitting one another when you walk.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's right I think T&C came in that print too. It's like old flannel jammies! Ah like the dinosaur heels? His arms are so wide, they clink together unless I remember to keep my legs apart!
DeleteYep, the two middle inside bears smashed on mine after a couple of hours of wear. The charms are really brittle. I took them off and because they're both the middles, you couldn't tell that they were missing unless you knew. :(
DeleteNoted! I'm surprised they even bothered to put them on the inner side of the shoe. I really want them, but they are still too pricey in the sale for me.
