Flashback Beauty Friday 77: Liberty Of London & MAC Blush
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
I feel it's been a while since I shared a MAC limited edition, so an old, special packaged piece incoming. First though, I shared the Sonic Sparkle Dust loose powder from Hard Candy last week, if you missed that.
The MAC collaboration with Liberty Of London launched for Spring 2010. I was heavily into MAC in those days, specifically their limited edition, specially packaged releases like this one. I checked my haul post on the blog from back then and I bought more than I remembered. Two eyeshadows, 3 lipsticks, a lipglass, beauty powder and the blusher that I'm sharing today. It's the Powder Blush in Prim & Proper, one of two from this launch.
Liberty are renowned for their luxury textiles, with sophisticated floral printed cotton becoming synonymous with the brand. The MAC collaboration packaging reflected this, without going down the most obvious route, in my opinion, of a ditsy print. If anything the boxes are even more beautiful than what's inside. With a white base, they have this black pattern of birds, vines, berries, flowers and branches. The birds and leaves at the very bottom are coloured and the inside features a bright pansy design. The brand lettering is in gold metallic.
Inside, the compact is shiny white with a clear lid insert and a large bird and flower image in colour, to match the box.
The blush powder itself is quite an unusual shade, described by MAC as a "neutral nude", that does this complex colour a disservice in my view. Overall, I'd say it's a bronzey nude but with a little bit of a plummy base and a hint of pink and maybe even yellow, though not too much of any of those. It applies evenly and smoothly and can be built up for a stronger colour. With a satin finish, it has a lovely sheen on the skin to stop it looking flat, without any shimmer/glitter. My swatch is swiped with a finger on bare skin, quite heavily layered and no edits have been made to the photo. It's definitely one of the more unusual cheek shades in my collection and stunning packaging to boot. Do you remember this collaboration or have anything from it?
