Flashback Beauty Friday 72: BeneFit Black Orchid Eye Shadow
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
My FBF posts have been quite lengthy in words and/or pictures lately, so I'm keeping it short and sweet this week. Last week was the beautiful Olympia Le-Tan highlighter from their second collaboration with LancĂ´me, definitely worth a look if you missed it.
Like with anything, sometimes you get seriously nostalgic over an item and other times, you couldn't really care less. I'm definitely in the latter category this week. This is the BeneFit Black Orchid Eye Shadow in I Pretended Not To Notice.
It was part of their Autumn 2004 collection and there were similar pot lipglosses which I didn't get. If I remember correctly, I got this eyeshadow massively discounted either online or in store afterwards. It's not something I coveted, I don't even recall the collection to be honest, so I don't have much to say this week.
The packaging is a shiny, black pot with a screw-off lid. Small, but quite chunky. The cool part is the orchid image, like a negative, beneath the domed transparent panel on the lid. The whole thing is super reflective, so it was hard to photograph. It's very dark and mysterious for BeneFit, who were and still are known for their bright, fun, quirky packaging. Usually their stuff is quite 'kiddy' in a good way, but this one feels very serious.
Inside, under the cap, is a small mirror and then the eyeshadow is a powder duo. I Pretended Not To Notice has a lighter side of very pale lavender, pretty much off-white and a darker side that's a smokey grey-purple. Neither colours are particularly unique, but it's handy to have the two shades for a smokey eye in one small pot.
It's not that I hate it, I just don't have any attachment to it. Do you remember this one and have fonder memories of it?
