Flashback Beauty Friday 55: Lunar New Year Special 3
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
In the third of my special Flashback Beauty Friday posts leading up to Chinese New Year, I'm focusing on the 2021 Bobbi Brown collection. Here's my MAC, Moon Masterpiece post from last week if you missed it.
I've bought quite a bit of BB in the past couple of years and I instantly fell for this Stroke Of Luck Collection. The outer boxes are just the usual glossy black with white writing, however the product packaging felt very festive for the Lunar New Year in gold and red.
The Highlighting Powder in Opal Glow is a spin on their best selling pearl highlighter, with a limited edition duo-chrome finish. Tilt one way and it's a soft pink, the other, a champagne gold. The two tones combine beautifully without the powder becoming too gold or too pink. I'm a big fan of their highlighters and the addition of the intricate embossed floral design on the powder, just adds to it's beauty.
I didn't buy the eyeshadow palette, but I did pick one of the 3 Luxe Metal Lipsticks available. The Luxe Lipsticks are rich and pigment packed, this 'metal' variation had a metallic, lustrous finish. I got Lantern Light, which looks like a pinkish medium brown. When swatched, it's lighter, more copper. There is a metallic sheen, but also lots of micro shimmers, so it takes on a frost-metallic finish. It's not so noticeable in the swatch, but I was surprised by the amount of sparkle, there's a lot. It doesn't take much effort to build the colour, the pigment is definitely there and it's a nice light but creamy formula with quite a bit of slip to it. The Opal Glow highlight swatch is on the right and lipstick on the left.
I photographed every side of the lipstick as I like how the pattern and brush strokes wind around the case. The case is super weighty, it feels very luxurious. The actual lipstick also had a really interesting shape to it. This collection also came with a cleansing oil in special edition packaging (gold swirling brush strokes). Do you recall this range from last year?
