Flashback Beauty Friday 53: Lunar New Year Special 1
Post contains affiliate links, no PR gifted items.
I hope you enjoyed Festive Beauty during December, whilst Flashback Beauty Friday took a break. I thought I'd kind of combine the two for January with a look back at limited edition pieces from Chinese New Year collections. Most beauty brands these days do something special to celebrate the Lunar New Year, whether that's their regular skincare line in special packaging or limited edition makeup releases. If I'm really honest, in the past few years I've looked forward to these collections more than the festive Christmas launches which have been becoming a bit tired. None of the items date back too far, but hopefully it'll still be of interest for you to see.
Let's kick it off with the Givenchy Le Rouge Lipstick in 888 Golden Red from 2021. This Lunar New Year, Marble Edition comes in a red rather than the usual black, textured fabric case. The whole thing is very weighty and feels luxurious with Givenchy engraved along the side as well as the case with the logo on the top of the lid.
The lipstick itself also has the logo carved into it and the "marble edition" is because the red shade has the most entrancing gold marbling and shimmer to it.
As you know, I'm not a big fan of red lipstick, but the beautiful gold sparkles lured me in. I'm not sure you can see it in the swatch, but I could in person and you can also see it on the lips. It's what I'd refer to as "grown up glitter", though not subtle. I did wonder if it was one of those finishes where actually the gold would just disappear, but no, it's really quite noticeable in the flesh.
If you're interested in the current limited edition collection from Givenchy for Chinese New Year, then you can find it here and here.
