Eyeko's Fruity Felt Lip Pen
I had another good rummage last weekend for products for this series and discovered a lot. There were a couple of things that had me teary eyed, one in particular I'd completely forgotten I owned and I love it. I'm thinking of doing my Christmas blogs again this year, so am saving any special festive launches for then. Seeing as schools went back here this week after the summer holidays, I thought it apt to photograph these items today. Firstly, last week was the jewellery themed Lancôme tubed eyeshadows and gloss from 2007 if you missed that.

I'm going back to the early Noughties today with these Eyeko Fruity Felt Lip Pens. I used to love Eyeko. I remember my Mum first buying me a set that came in the most adorable bag with kawaii illustrations and inside was glitter body lotion, shower gel and a minty lip balm if I remember correctly. Their makeup line had a very cutesy, Japanese feel to it, but they had a complete make-over (or under in my opinion) years back and now only do eye products. Given the brand name, that's maybe not surprising, but I personally liked the pale pink packaging, girl logo and their nail polishes were just the cutest. Now it's all just a bit boring and bland. I've gotten a lot of liners or mascaras in advent calendars or mystery boxes and goody bags over the years, but I'm never in any rush to try them.

These lip pens were a staining product, Urban Decay had a similar line at the time (which I also found in my stash) and designed to look exactly like felt tip pens. Best stored tip down for the ink to flow properly, I think I had all the colours they came in. No shade names, just numbered 1-4 (and had they been clearer to read on some, I'd have put them in order for you 😆).

I'll admit I was very reluctant to sniff an almost 20 year old lip product, but being the thorough and dedicated blogger I am, I did. They all still have a scent, but it was difficult to decipher and differentiate between them (I'm assuming at the time, they were all different). I felt the brown one wasn't the same as the others and wanted to say it was likely chocolate, but given they're called "fruity", maybe not.  Even the little heart pattern on the end is a lot cuter than what they'd do now.

Now I attempted swatches, but bear in mind how old and dried up these are. The purple one, No.3 had the best colour remaining, so I've likely used that one least. By the looks of things, they pretty much swatched the colour you expected (as always no edits have been made to the colour/light, all swatched on bare skin). I recall them being good for reshaping your lips, but preferred using them as a base for something else (either gloss or lipstick over the top) as the colour on it's own wasn't that exciting and looked a little flat. I'm not the biggest fan of stains though.  Order of swatches is same as shown throughout the blog, No.1 light pink, No.2 purple, No.3 pinky red and No.4 brown.
