Flashback Beauty Friday 3: Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow

It's Friday, so time for another look back at some old makeup.  Like last week (Too Faced Gossip Gloss), this item wasn't limited edition, but this style of packaging no longer exists.  These are the Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow and not being funny, I thought this compact was the epitome of cool back in the day. As did everyone!  You really earned beauty street cred (is that a thing?) for owning these.  The ice-cube inspired cases had a tiny mirror in the lid and the coloured 'pod' you saw from the outside represented the eyeshadow colour inside, so it was easy to find the colour you needed without opening them all.  This made them feel very collectable, the more you had (in different colours), the cooler your collection looked all lined or stacked up.

These are my purples; 20 Iris Pearl (light lilac), 23 Berry Ice (deep plum) and 29 Orchid (purple), but I definitely have a dark pewter and matte turquoise (Granite Block and Aqua Pool, if I remember correctly) and possibly more.  The packaging later changed to a flatter version, which in all honesty just didn't have the same pull for me as these and then later lost the 'icy' style altogether.  I also remember other EL makeup items in the same ice-cube style packaging (I had a nail polish).

I remember feeling so fancy owning these and I still think that packaging is legendary and very collectable. Do you remember these?
