My MAC Disney Aladdin Haul

[Post contains affiliate links]

Last month, I decided I would set myself the challenge of blogging every day...it lasted 2 days, so I'm hoping to try again this month. My health hasn't been great, which is the main reason for the lack of blogging. I've been sleeping a great deal, most days start off with me either needing a sleep after breakfast (yep, really!) or sleeping all afternoon and throughout the evening. I'm trying not to let it get me down, but some days when all you feel is your joints wanting to explode and you're battling to keep your eyelids open, it's a struggle. Today, I was going to say has been extremely lazy, but actually I started off quite well. I checked my emails and stuff this morning, took photos for #365daysofIrregularChoice and showered before lunch. I was backing up my laptop whilst in the shower, but it took a lot longer this time, so I decided to just let it do it's thing and have a lazy afternoon instead. I played a few games on my phone, watched some more of My Love From Another Star, which I'm totally hooked on and wondering why I didn't watch it sooner and then slept. Tonight I was checking my emails and saw MAC Aladdin was out!! I was forgetting about that and didn't realise we were getting it sooner here, so I got a bit sidetracked buying that. promotional image of Princess Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin wearing limited edition MAC makeup collection

I've been getting back into MAC lately. When I first started buying from them (the Barbie collection, I was a late MAC bloomer), I got so obsessed with each new limited edition collection that I pretty much bought something from every release. It wasn't good for my bank balance, and I felt like I was a little addicted to be honest, like I couldn't pass up getting at least one thing. It's so easy if you start paying attention to the previews and see swatches and stuff beforehand, but I felt it had become a bit of a cycle for me, so I stopped checking religiously and for a number of years now, I've barely bought anything. The past few months though, I've spied some LE things, I just didn't want to pass up and I've kinda got the bug again. I'm nowhere near addicted though! I bought a few things from Electric Wonder (such pretty marbled packaging) and a few bits before Christmas and some of the purple duo-chrome release last year, can't remember it's name, but it was purdy. Oh and the Taraji P Henson Viva Glam lipstick and gloss, gosh that was gorgeous. stock photo turquoise patterned box and gold metallic lipstick with pinky beige lipstick and MAC and Disney Aladdin branding stock photo pink patterned box and lipgloss in gold sparkling colour with Disney Aladdin and MAC branding Anyway tonight, I ordered more than I expected, here from Look Fantastic, but it all looked like really every-day, wearable stuff for me and yes, the packaging was a real pull. It's stunning.  Of the 4 lipsticks, I ordered Friend Like Me above (Amplified, cool neutral beige), it's the lightest of the bunch and totally my type of colour. I got Diamond In The Rough lipglass above (gold with gold and pink pearl). There's 3 lipglasses and this one looked quite unique within my collection. I also ordered the Crystal Glaze Gloss in #1 Wish (the only shade) below, a clear gloss with multi-colour pearl. I was curious about it as I didn't know what it was. A balm, a top-coat, a lipgloss? From MAC's description, it's perhaps all of those. It supposedly changes the colour or texture of other lip shades, so I was interested enough to buy it. And the jar is hella cute! stock photo of gold lipgloss jar lid with pink patternstock photo of clear lipgloss jar with gold lid and Disney Aladdin and MAC brandingstock photo of round pot of shimmering lip balm gloss
I bought the eye palette below. I haven't bought eyeshadow from MAC in forever. I can't even remember the last time I did. I actually stopped myself from buying eyeshadow generally because I have a mountain of palettes and singles and seem to reach for the same few each time or skip it altogether, but lately I've been using new ones and trying different things. The Princess Jasmine palette contains 9 shades in a mix of finishes and there looked to be a lot of shimmery ones in there which pulled me in. stock photo of closed gold eyeshadow palette with clear lid and pink printed pattern on it with Disney Aladdin and MAC branding
These are the official names and descriptions;
No Ordinary Lamp: Light rose (Matte)
Creative Copper: Peachy gold with gold shimmer (Lustre)
Agrabah: Cool rose (Frost)
Riffraff: Mauve (Matte)
Rags to Riches: Pale gold frost (Frost)
Live the Genie Life: Gunmetal silver (Frost)
Princess Jasmine: Duochrome blue green w/ red undertone (Frost)
Abu!: Plum with red pearl (VLXP)
Shadowy Lady: Blackened plum (Matte) stock photo of open eyeshadow palette with 9 rounded eyeshadows in gold casing
Princess Jasmine sounds most interesting to me, but basically any of the frosts are my thing and to be fair, the two lighter mattes will likely be used a lot as bases or with the frosts. The final item I chose was the Powder Blush below in Always One Jump Ahead, aren't the names in this collection just the cutest? I was slightly confused as I often get with MAC cheek/face products because they do love calling them strange things or over-describing them, when I just need them to say "highlighter". There are two shades here and in my opinion, it's a highlighter (the one I got) and the other is a bronzer, neither are blushes. Actually when you then read their descriptions, they do say depending on skintone, they are a highlighter and bronzer. So for fair skin like mine, this one is actually supposed to be a shimmering blush (and a highlight on medium to dark skintones), but I'm hoping it's going to work as a highlight as I'm not into overly shimmery, gold cheeks (looking at you, untouched Dior LE Midnight Wish "blusher"). The "bronzer", Your Wish Is My Command, is a bronzer on light to medium skins and a highlighter/blush type thing on darker skin. I could likely use that as a contour if it was dark enough (though from some photos it looks quite light), but the shimmer in the gold one made me want that more and I only need one. I love MAC compacts, I have so many various ones and just love when they come in special packaging like this. stock photo of MAC gold compact with turquoise pattern and Disney Aladdin brandingstock photo of open gold MAC compact with pressed gold powder etched with Disney genie lamp
There's also a pink pigment, an eyeliner and obviously the other shades of what I got, but I'm pretty excited to see my loot. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, but I haven't had much luck with next day deliveries lately, so I'm prepared for it not to come. I meant to say this collection is to coincide with the new live action movie coming out...around about my birthday later this month if I remember correctly. So it's not based on the original animation. Obviously not having seen that, I can't say whether or not I think the makeup here is complimentary of Jasmine in the film, but I think it's a nice little collection. If you collect MAC to keep, then you'll love the gold metallic and prettily decorated pieces and if you buy to use, there's plenty of staple colours here that you'll get a lot of wear out of. Nothing groundbreaking, but I'm liking the look of it. It's out in the UK now here and I believe the 16th May in the US. Hoping I have some swatches up before then, so keep an eye out.

  1. I'm really not into that “animation to live action movies” movement from lately : (
also how classic Disney princesses' face's been changed with bigger eyes and thicker makeup to match with latest ones...I don't even like 3D animation movies that looks like bad version of Pixer.
and yes, I remember the time when you used buy every limited edition collection from MAC! And need say they are really attractive most of times. none could blame you!
I'm interested to see your swatch of “Diamond In The Rough” and how it would work with lipsticks as well.
I wonder if that would look good on top of turquoise blue (like what Jasmine wears) lipstick :3
I've been interested on gold addiction satin lipsticks from Loreal Paris as well. gold and pink gold looks so cute<3 I'm not sure the one I've seen in person once was that or metallic addiction or something else...but crushed foils metallic lipsticks also looks gorgeous!
I'm not big fan of shimmery stuffs since I feel like it doesn't match with my skin (unfortunately</3) but I LOOOOOVE GLITTERS!
I would wear glitter almost everyday if removing glitter wasn't so annoying...(any tips?) also if my work accepts that.
btw, #365daysofIC Day 117 & 118 look is so cute<3 I know you've heard this enough but that combination with tights is just on point<3
