ASOS Clinique Beauty Box (July 2018)

It was November last year, when I previously blogged about the ASOS beauty box. I've bought most of the monthly boxes since then and July is a special one as it only contains Clinique products. The brand has just launched at ASOS, so the box is to celebrate and it's a great way of trying out several products. Clinique skincare items in ASOS beauty box

ASOS beauty boxes are non-subscription, you just buy the box if you like the look of it that month and you get to see the contents (and they don't vary per box).  I was beginning to think there wouldn't be a July edition as this box came out a little later than usual. It's priced slightly higher at £15 (normally £12), but as you'll see it's still great value for money. ASOS Clinque beauty box packaging
This time the box comes with a removable sleeve and inside you'll find 5 products; 4 mini and one full size. Let's start with that. card sleeve on beauty box with branded box underneathASOS skincare beauty box with Clinique products
It's the City Block Sheer SPF25 40ml, which is an oil-free, daily face protector. This retails for £19, so already you're saving £4, plus getting the other items for free. I haven't tried this before, but it's something I'm keen to use on the (rare) days I do leave the house. Sunscreen products tend to break me out, so I'll be interested to see how this fares as Clinique are known for gentle, fragrance-free skincare. Next up are three of the mini items; Take The Day Off cleansing balm 15ml, Moisture Surge 72 hour auto-replenishing hydrator 15ml and City Block Purifying charcoal clay mask + scrub 15ml. The cleansing balm and moisturiser get raved about and I have several mini jars of both from GWP's, but haven't used them yet. Being the mask-fiend I am, I do already own the full-size version and indeed almost all of the masks Clinique do. It changes colour as it dries and it exfoliates as you wash it off. It's a deep-cleanse, detox type mask to purify and refine and especially great for those with oilier skin, prone to blemishes or skin exposed to harsh external factors like dirt and pollution. two jars of moisturiser and cleansing balm with tube of Clinique face mask
The final item, I'm probably most excited about, as it's brand, spanking new! The cult Dramatically Different moisturiser has been given a makeover in this super appealing transparent, jelly format. I don't know if it's because it's so hot currently, but the entirely clear bottle and product looks like it would be ultra refreshing.  Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly 15ml, is a lightweight, jelly-water that's oil-free and provides 24 hour hydration. Again it's a great barrier against pollution, so if you live in a city, this could be the moisturiser for you. There's hyaluronic acid in there (moisturising and skin plumping genius) and a mix of sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber fruit extract to strengthen the skin barrier, balance and improve its resiliency. My skin is horrid just now, I've been breaking out like crazy and using some new products whilst trying not to overload and change too many things at once (it's a vicious cycle, I swear). I'm desperate to use this though! I just switched moisturisers a couple of weeks ago (felt like a change) after previously using the original Dramatically Different lotion along with their Anti-Blemish one for years. I can see me 'cheating' and starting to use this now. Clinique hydrating moisturiser tube next to promotion card
The box unfortunately sold out very quickly, hours after I received mine, but I've linked to individual items in stock if anything takes your fancy. The box contents are designed to deep clean, hydrate, fight pollution and get that glow back in the skin over the summer and I think there's a really nice selection here. What do you think, have you tried any of these or think the new jelly moisturiser might be your thing? selection of Clinique skincare products from the July ASOS beauty box

  1. The hydrating jelly sounds like something I might be able to toerate-I can't stand the feel of most moisturisers. My skin is going so dry this summer I'm terrified of what winter might do to it.

Glad to see you pop back up in my Instagram feed-always great to see/hear from you.

  2. Ok, I buckled after this post and used the jelly! Been using it every day since, it's lovely. My skin is looking hydrated, it's lightweight and I expected it to be very sticky, it isn't. I know what you mean, my combination skin is getting more extreme, the dry bits drier. My skin also seems to freak when there's a seasonal/weather change and reacts badly to it. I just get it settled down, then we're into a new season and it's goes crazy again!

Thank you, that's lovely to hear. I've done a couple of big things this year which have impacted my health and this year didn't start out well with my M.E., so sometimes I disappear for a bit, but I'm really trying to get back into a more steady routine.
