Festive Beauty 2022: Day 15

Up until Christmas I'm blogging makeup products from Christmas collections, recent and older. At the bottom of each post there's an online offer and over on The Shoe Girl Diaries I'm sharing festive shoes from my Irregular Choice collection. Last time, I blogged the No7 Midnight Enchantment Blusher from 2011 and today I have something much more recent.

This was the Hyper Real Glow Duo in Step Bright Up/Alche-Me from MAC's 2021 Hypnotizing Holiday collection. Man, was this highlighter hard to find! Much like some of the sets this year, that I've given up on (that beautiful green bubble brush set, the other pearl clutch lipstick set (not the one we got with 5 extremely similar meh shades) and the 3 pan face palettes with bow embossing), I don't know if this was only available in certain countries, but it certainly never appeared online. Some of the collection was held up due to Covid and Brexit I believe, as I noticed more colours and products dribbling in later, but this one never appeared. I don't know if it was available in UK stores only (mine closed during Covid and never reopened)...I didn't ask the live chat because I usually know more than they do and end up getting frustrated. Anyway, the colourway that was more widely available was a red/white duo, which I bought. Twice! Hear me out, I figured I'd actually like to use it, but knew it would be instantly wrecked with the colours mixing, so I bought one to keep and one to use. This gold version, I believed would be less likely to look bad when used and I thought colour-wise I'd actually use this one as a highlighter a lot. Now I have it, I'm a little scared of ruining it, but in all honesty I haven't worn makeup since I got it, so that's the real reason.

The HH collection was...interesting. The packaging concepts, i.e. the boxes or bags were phenomenal. There were some amazing on-theme ideas. I bought almost all the eyeshadows, a couple of lipglosses, the lipsticks weren't my colours, but I still bought one along with a couple of eye pencils and then these blush/highlighters. The actual cases and compacts, I just wasn't feeling.  I know the swirls on the packaging as well as being hypnotizing were supposed to be festive spiral candy, but it didn't feel Christmassy to me. Where's the glitz and glam? At Christmas I want glitter and stars not bold stripes. So it's probably my least favourite MAC Christmas packaging.

The swirly embossing inside on the powder actually looks cute though. This one is a pale ivory-gold with a richer, yellow-gold as the main colour.
