My 1st Shopping Trip Of The Year!

Image
I went shopping in Dundee today, it was really nice to get out. The shops were a little disappointing though. It's kind of that odd in between seasons period and there's not even any decent sale stuff left. I had a list of items I was struggling to find online, but didn't manage to get anything on the list. I was looking for this Beth Ditto polka dot dress in Evans , but I don't think they even stock that collection. Such a shame as it's now reduced to £20 (I hadn't been prepared to pay £60 for it) and totally out of stock online. River Island was pretty crap, nothing I liked from the new ranges (yet) and I didn't even bother to look at sale clothes as their 18's probably don't fit me anyway. The sale accessories were much the same as what's left online and I didn't see any sale handbags. I did manage to avoid buying a couple of pairs of cute shoes, these lace peep toes now £20 and a pair of weird half sided, strappy electric blue wedges (£30...

Sneak Peek: Beth Ditto At Evans

Image
We also have the second Beth Ditto at Evans collection to look forward to this week. Evans have been pretty hush, hush with promo images before the launch this time. However a small selection of the range was featured in Look mag today, so I've photographed the page for you (click to enlarge). The range appears much more wearable this time and also seems to have something to suit different styles. You know I'm eyeing the floral and polka dot dresses, because I'm just so predictable! Excited?

Will Marc Jacobs Do Plus Size?

Image
This is a bit of an essay and it's taken me practically all day to write but I've got a lot to say on plus size fashion, so it's worth reading if you have time. The president of Marc Jacobs label has hinted that the brand may branch out into 'plus sizes'. He tweeted that they are in the very early stages of discussing the venture and it should take around a year to materialise. I was beyond excited at first, but after reading the full article and laughing/shouting at the comments people left, it has thrown up a lot of mixed feelings that I'd like to discuss. 'Plus' in the designer fashion world is anything above a 14 and the article hinted that sizes would start there-how far beyond a 14 they will go though is the main issue for me. I would be extremely annoyed if sizes 14-18 were produced and classed as 'plus size', because lets face it, that's normal and average in the UK, there's nothing 'plus' about it and it would make the w...

Beth Ditto at Evans

Image
The much anticipated Beth Ditto at Evans collections is out today. Available in sizes 14-32, the range consists of brightly coloured, electro pop goodies. I'm not entirely convinced with some of the shapes, fabrics and colours, although they are very much in-keeping with Dittos loud style. I would certainly feel awkward letting it all hang out in a skin-tight domino print dress or, I fear, looking like a large purple Quality Street in the purple sequin top gathered at the hem. I do really like the shape of the leggings though, which have a tummy flattening panel and are high-waisted, so sit comfortably over your stomach. The black prom dress and geo prom dress are other favourites and whilst I love the print on the stain glass prom dress, I doubt many larger girls would feel comfortable in a strapless style, like Beth would. I would suggest teaming with a vest or t-shirt underneath or you could wear a little cardi over the top. (shown in picture, Beth wearing domino print dress £4...
