LOTD: Week 1

Image
Post does not contain any PR gifted products.  Post contains affiliate links, marked with * (which can earn the blog a small commission on purchases made). Welcome to my first proper post in a very long time-I hope you're all keeping well.  This series will focus on my LOTD's (Lip Of The Day) and which perfumes I've been wearing with them.  As I mentioned last week, I got into the habit of wearing daily lip combinations years ago, despite no longer wearing a full face of makeup.  Lip products have always been some of my favourite kinds of makeup, though I'd say my tastes have changed somewhat over the past year or two.  As you'll see, I mostly wear lipliner with a balm, oil or gloss and tend not to reach for my lipsticks as much (lipstick always used to be my favourite).

NOTD #1

Seeing as I rarely manage to wear makeup these days, but still enjoy beauty blogging, I thought I should begin documenting my manicures. It's something that in the past year at least, I've tried to regularly maintain (every couple of weeks or so). I'm also training myself to blog something that doesn't involve screeds of writing and tonnes of photos! Surely I can manage a couple of photos and short paragraph? So, these were my nails for New Year. I'd prioritised too many other things (as you do) that by Christmas my nails were all chipped and I didn't have the energy to do anything about it, so although I wasn't going out anywhere, I decided to make them nice for Hogmanay.

Guerlain Nuit Merveilleuse Nail Polish

Image
I hadn't spent a lot of time looking at the Christmas makeup collections last year. In general I've cut back on buying makeup, given I'm never well enough to apply it just now. However, I had a couple of things still to get to finish my Christmas shopping, which I found at Escentual and they had the one thing I'd looked at (a Dior nail polish) so I couldn't resist a peek at what else was on offer. I ended up getting a Dior eye palette along with the nail polish (and a different one for my Mum from the same range) and this Guerlain one also popped into my basket. The Neiges & Merveilles collection by Guerlain for Christmas 2015 was absolutely beautiful. Sadly most of it was either out of stock or out of my price range. I'm not totally sure where this bold purple slotted into the colour scheme, but it was so lovely, I wanted it anyway.

Escentual #CleansingMilkTrial

Image
Remember a couple of years ago, I took part in the blind micellar water trial set by Escentual ? Well they got in touch again and asked 100 beauty experts (moi) if we wanted to blind trial cleansing milk this time. I had loads of fun before, so definitely wanted to do it again. We were sent 7 cleansing milks, dispensed into plain glass jars and labelled "sample A" etc and only knew the brands involved, but nothing more.

Escentual Spring Haul (Dior, Clarins, Guerlain)

Guten tag liebe menschen, long time, no speak! Still no improvement health-wise, it's a struggle to stay awake all day and blogging (i.e. using a computer and my brain) has been virtually impossible, hence the lack of activity. It's been and will continue to be tough, but thanks for your messages they are much appreciated.  I've been eager to show you this amazing haul, which I'd been saving up to buy.  I've only been out shopping once this year and when I saw all the lovely new items on the beauty counters, I managed to build up quite the list of 'wants'! Although Escentual already have discounted prices on their products (so I wanted to buy from there), money has been really tight (and my wishlist was rather long), so I waited until a '25% off everything' code in February and managed to save over £50. Brilliant! Typical that when I got it, I was too ill to play with it all! I'll be saving some for Too Pretty To Swatch anyway, because they...
