Pink Haired Princess

Look at me being all regular with the swatch requests! Tej had commented on an old Rimmel lipstick swatch post of mine. She loved one of the lipsticks, which is now discontinued and wondered if I knew of any alternatives. None immediately came to mind, given that the colour isn't particularly unique within my lipsticks i.e. I own a lot of browns and nudes, so if a request comes in for anything else, it's very easy to locate the few that could be similar. That said, it doesn't mean I own a vast amount of perfect dupes for this, it means there's a lot of lipsticks to go through! I actually had no idea where to start so just had to methodically go through my lipstick drawers, picking out (hopefully) those that haven't been discontinued yet. Monday seems to come around quickly, when there's MHM and sadly, I've not had time to post anything else since last week! Today I bring you the delightful Lagoona Blue from the dance class line which launched last year. Lagoona makeup is pretty predictable (soft pink lips and a turquoise/pink eye), so I was pleasantly surprised the turquoise leaned more green and the lip was brighter on this doll. I managed to find dupes pretty easily and the application was particularly fuss-free this week. I even attempted a wearable version of her purple brows this time! Her eyes are mostly that greeny shade but with a thin lilac line and her lips are bold and bright fuchsia. I had to edit in slightly greener eyes and was tempted to define my freckles a bit more as hers are just too cute! Sadly mine usually get caked in makeup and hidden somewhat. My little sister and I bought tickets ages ago for The Big Reunion tour (the show on ITV2 that reformed 90's bands) and so we set off on Tuesday and stayed overnight in Glasgow and got back yesterday. Can you believe it was the first time I've been away since I went to my friends wedding in Aberdeenshire 3 years ago? I definitely don't get out much, so it was a nice little break. I'm pretty shattered and sore from the trip, but keen to get back into a routine. Monster High Monday was pretty much a disaster this week though. I woke up on Monday feeling fine, then within an hour I started sneezing. Not just once or twice, about 60 times in 20 minutes. Sneezing constantly is exhausting ! One of my newest dolls this week, Lagoona Blue from the Swim Class line (exclusive to Smyths if you're looking for her in the UK). Is she not just the most beautiful cutie-pie you've ever seen? I love her! For once I organised myself in advance for MHM (you'll have seen sneak-peeks if you follow my Facebook) as I knew there were several shades involved and it could take time to find matches within my collection for this particular doll. In the end all the colours were perfect dupes, I definitely need to try and prepare ahead of time more often! Lagoona has shimmering blue skin, green eyes with pink, purple and turquoise eyeshadow, purple eyebrows, lots of freckles and a bold but dull coral-ish pink lip. Told you it was tricky! I found the best lipstick for it though and I even attempted the purple brows this week. A wee technical issue (well big one actually) meant I didn't have time to post this yesterday. My MHM this week is the beautiful Rochelle Goyle, a (Parisian) gargoyle if you couldn't guess. She's very chic in pink, grey and black-I love her outfits!  I'm also a fan of the pink and blue streaked hair and and I love that she has speckled skin to really look like stone. I didn't realise my doll had such a dodgy eye until these photos though. The paint isn't in the right position. Anyway, as with last time I totally struggled to find a matte pale pink eyeshadow. It was either too frosty or looked the correct colour in the pan, but applied too pale. I have literally thousands of eyeshadows and was becoming exasperated when I couldn't find a good dupe. Another MHM and quite a fresh and bright one this week. Lagoona is one of, if not my favourite MH characters, I think she's adorable. This doll was the 2nd wave, sometimes called 'School's Out' and I was lucky enough to find her when she was re-released after passing on her when she first came out. Lagoona isn't too pigeon-holed colour wise and often gets a crazy assortment of patterns, textures and colours per outfit. Her makeup kinda stays the same though, she usually has pinks and turquoises on the eyes and pink lips, being a pretty sea-monster. So if you see another similar Monster High Monday in the future, it will be a different doll! I had a panic once I uploaded the photos as her lips looked peachy in the pics yet pink in real life. I had found the perfect lip dupe and thought you would all be thinking I was losing it, choosing pink when you can see her lips are peach.
