Meadham Kirchhoff For Topshop Haul

So here are my Meadham Kirchhoff goodies that arrived from Topshop on Saturday. Weeks of stressing, a few hours of unsettled sleep, a late night, an early start, a helluva lot of money and a near heart attack and computer thrown through the window in rage from the pressure on the day of the sale and I'm afraid to report it's not all good news from here.
The red sparkly shoes, the pair I really wanted, don't fit. I thought they looked small whenever I took their colourful quirkiness out of the box, but actually my foot slipped in Cinderella style and they hugged my feet perfectly. The straps had other ideas though.
They fasten with a metal stud, so it's hit or miss, there's no room for manoeuvre. I could get all but one strap fastened (and none on the other foot strangely) and the other strap isn't even close to closing. Absolutely gutted. Add to that the fact one stud is already broken (not sure if it was already like that or if I broke it opening it-some straps were closed in the box, some open). Had they fitted and the stud was broken, I'd have been even more furious because Topshop don't do exchanges, so I'd have missed out on them through no fault of my own.  You can see the snapped stud below.  Opening and closing them doesn't feel all that secure given that the stud isn't attached to the shoe, but a strip of stretchy leather (not enough stretch to pull and fit me before you ask), so you're pulling on that to separate the stud and it could easily be broken because it's easier to remain on the other half of the stud than pull with you.
I'm still sorely disappointed though. They were even better than I'd imagined, the shape was just perfect (despite me not usually being a fan of pointed toes) and I so wanted to wear these for Christmas. I'm now wishing I'd got the pastel version which only had one strap across as I'd maybe have had better luck with them, but I can't even remember if they had my size at the time or not. For £180 though, I expect a sturdier fastening and they are too expensive to remain an 'ornament'!
So then I bought the sequin heart shaped bag (hoping to match with my shoes). I'm not sure if I want to keep it without the shoes. I love the lace, although wish it wouldn't curl into the bag like it does, but the looped strap is a little annoying. As it's only attached at one side (but located in the centre of the bag), the bag kinda feels lopsided and spins a lot. Do I keep this anyway or not?
Next, the pastel fluffy shoes. Now these felt big, in length and width. I'm not sure if it's because they are supposed to be styled with tights and socks (but then so were the red pair and there's no chance of that)! The strap on this pair fastens with velcro and I find myself pulling it as tight as I can to make the shoe feel more secure. They aren't uncomfortably big and the leather lining in both pairs makes it feel like they would never rub at or hurt your feet.
Aside from feeling big, they look massive, maybe to the point of clown feet or something! It's something I'm not used to as the majority of my shoes are on the slender side rather than clumpy and clumsy.
I was surprised to see the heel is 4" as they were described as 'mid' height heels and I suspected only 2.5-3" at a push (so that's a plus point for me). Like I thought before they arrived, I love the colours, the bow, the toe shape and the fact that I feel nobody else would be crazy enough to wear them besides me (at least not around these parts)! However I'm still split with them. The sensible part of my brain is saying the fur will get dirty instantly and they would have to be 'fair weather' shoes, only worn in dry conditions and not on grass, mud etc. Not exactly practical, especially in Scotland. I'm also at a loss of how to style them. I think they look great with little socks, but it's the rest of my outfit that I just can't quite figure. I can't think of one dress I own that will look awesome with this.
The shoe obsessive part of my mind is thinking I'll never see another pair of shoes like these again, so should jump on them. Plus it's in the back of my mind that the whole day and stress was for nothing if I send it all back, you know? For £130, I need to be head over heels for them though. I'm not sure I am.  I hope you can see how massive they look (especially as you're accustomed to looking at my feet on The Shoe Girl Diaries), my leg and ankle look like they could snap with the sheer size of the shoes!
Finally the striped socks. I was rather confused to see these thrown in the parcel, not attached to each other, not in a plastic bag or carded or anything. Just loose and tossed in. If I wanted to return these or if someone bought them instore, how do they put them through the till with no barcode or anything to scan or know I haven't worn them? It felt a bit like a free gift that I hadn't paid for. Thankfully I don't want to return them (I might as well keep one memento of the whole mess).
I wish this was all better news and can't express how disappointed I am, especially with the red shoes. It obviously wasn't meant to be and in better news I managed to score a pair of shoes at the weekend that have been on my wishlist for years and that I thought I'd never be lucky enough to own. So I guess it all goes full circle. Questions is, should I keep the fluffy shoes and/or the heart bag? I'd love to hear what you think. Now I'm away to dry these tears : (

Haul: Meadham Kirchhoff For Topshop

I went to bed at 1am, got back up at 6am, with very little sleep in that time, all to buy some cute shoes from the Meadham Kirchhoff collection that just launched at Topshop today! I've been stressing so bad about this the past few weeks. Add to that my ridiculously slow internet, which has been playing up for a fortnight and I was wired to say the least. Some items I'd been expected, I didn't see, some items popped up that I hadn't seen in the previews. However, I managed to order the items I most wanted and after checkout taking a full 35 minutes to complete (completely down to my internet troubles, rather than a slow Topshop), I think I managed to secure an order just after 7am!
Top of my list were the red sequin rainbow heels £180. They just feel magical with their witchy shape and fabulous layered rainbow heel.
I decided last minute to pop this coordinating red sequin heart, lace trimmed bag £40 in my basket too. Not sure if I'll keep it, but worth seeing if it looks cute with the shoes. I couldn't get all the images to load on the website, so am not too sure how big it is.
I've hummed and hawed so much about these fluffy pastel shoes £130 over the past few weeks. Would they be too low for me? Would the fur get dirty? Eh, what would I wear them with? In the end I went with them. I love the colours, the shape of the toe, the bows, the sheer absolute downright crazy factor of them and I want to try them and see if they work for me. I think they scream Meadham Kirchhoff.
Finally a little striped pair of frilly socks £8. I probably should've bought the cherry pair to go with the red shoes-that would've looked hot, but I didn't think it through entirely with all that was happening!
I loved the thigh high boots but at £400 quickly took them off my wishlist yesterday! I also liked the shorter version, loving that glitter platform and 70's feel, but they'd gone in my size, as had the green glitter face boots. I nearly bought the fur handbag (and considered the furry boots!) but didn't and I also really loved the pastel version of my red shoes. In some ways, it was nice that some things had already sold out in my size, so I didn't have too many decisions about what to buy.  I couldn't have it all and for once was thankful I probably wouldn't fit a size 16, as I'd have wanted so much more! I thought some of the clothes were very reasonably priced and would certainly have tried both navy eyeball dresses at £80 each. Anyway, hopefully my order went through alright and I'm not charged twice or my bank don't decline it because it's a stupid amount of money at a ridiculous hour of the day! I'm hoping I don't fall asleep today and can get on with some much neglected blogging ; ) Is this collection too crazy for you or do you like that it's true to MK's style?

Super Shoes

Crap-sticks, this is the second time in a week I've been in the middle of writing a post and blogger hasn't saved a damn thing and I've lost it all (although I'm partly to blame for not pressing 'save' this time in my haste, but you'd think it would do so along the way itself). Anyway, back to typing this all out again and when was the last time I did a shoe-haul post? It feels like forever! I've been on an unofficial no-buy for 2-3 months now due to trying to pay back my ISA (I kept stealing from it to fund purchases), lack of space and gearing up for building work to begin on the house (which will mean even less space) and I just haven't been feeling well enough to go shopping. A couple of weeks ago though, I was feeling really sorry for myself after receiving bad news about my gums, coupled with facing a month of almost constant 'treatments' for it. I decided I should be allowed one treat for being a 'good girl' throughout it and that of course meant shoes! I found the perfect pair a couple of weeks ago and have drooled over them several times every day since. They are Moschino Cheap & Chic and I was buying them from FarFetch, who if you don't know, house brands from boutiques all over the world. It's a great system as it allows you to purchase from places you usually wouldn't be able to. My shoes for example were from Galante in (Brugge) Belgium and the only way to purchase other than in the actual boutique itself is through FarFetch. I hadn't ordered before though and the only downfall was the £19 shipping. I realise that it would more than likely cost that to courier the item to me, but it was bumping up the price of the shoes and I just didn't feel entirely comfortable paying it.
I signed up to the website in the hope of getting some sort of discount code after trawling the net with no luck. I was about to give up hope, when around a week later they emailed me with a code for free shipping. I was ecstatic, although still had my reservations about ordering as I'd have to sneak them past the parents, who didn't know of my plan and stalking! Considering there were only two pairs left in my size, I didn't question it for very long and ordered on Sunday night. I was shocked to see the DHL man come up the path today with my box, considering I hadn't even received a dispatch email at that point! The service was outstanding really and they were perfectly packaged.  The shoes are just (if not more) perfect than I thought and fit like a glove.
It's my first Moschino item and I have to say if I had plenty of money and fitted their clothes, I'd be wearing the Moschino brands every day. They are completely 'me', I love the fun and humour injected into every piece, yet they still have this classic quality with a kooky, kitsch twist! Most people would just look at these shoes and think they were standard black patent peep toes with a red, puffy, pom-pom type trim. On closer inspection though, they are heart shaped and this is the type of cutesy detail that had me totally sold. In my mind, hearts are like polka dots, they never fail to make you feel happy.  Having researched these, beware that some other sites have the same style but with a lower heel-this is why I really wanted them from FarFetch because I knew they had the 4 1/4" heel.
Even the soles have hearts!
If you're interested in grabbing yourself a pair here with 60% off, there's still a 38 left and also a 36.5 (just one pair of each), so act fast! Or there's a black and blue heart platform pair, in sizes 36, 36.5 or 40, also with 60% off.
I began browsing the rest of the site and seriously, seriously considered purchasing these Nicholas Kirkwood platforms for Meadham Kirchhoff. They are so insane and ugly, that I think they rock! There's only one pair left in my size and I can't tell you the amount of times I put them in and out of my basket! In the end, I decided I just couldn't justify £484 (even with 40% off) on a pair of shoes I wouldn't wear every day. They're crazy-cool though.
Actually I pretty much fell in love with the entire Meadham Kirchhoff collection, which I'd already been a fan of from seeing the catwalk pictures. This jacket is the most beautiful jacket I have ever seen in my entire life. It could bring tears to my eyes, it's that stunning. The detail and shape are just perfect. Sadly I don't have the body or a spare £1739 for it.
This cardigan at £409, could have been a cheaper alternative, had it not sold out.
While the detailing in this dress can only be properly appreciated when you see a close-up of it. It's gorgeous and yours for £3939 (non-sale).
I can remember this coat-dress from the show and loved it's 'powder puff' boobies (which I totally want to replicate on something-although maybe not the wisest idea with boobs my size), but was disappointed to note they were missing here. However in the description it does mention them. What's even more interesting is the fact they are Penhaligon's London marabou puffs (not just any ol' puffs here!) and again the craftsmanship in this is exquisite and quite possibly worth the £16039.
I am certain this won't be my last purchase from FarFetch, as they have a great selection of products that you'll struggle to find in other online boutiques and I can't fault the service.
