Flashback Beauty Friday 52: Paul & Joe Face & Eye Color Spring 2017

Ooh, a bit of a treat today, not going back too far, but I couldn't resist showing this very pretty piece. Last week it was bunnies (Playboy Liquid Lipstick and Lipgloss), this week it's a much more demure cat!
I don't recall sharing this on the blog back when I bought it. It's the Paul & Joe Face & Eye Color in 107 Smitten Kitten from their Spring 2017 collection, Les Petits Noms d'Amour.
Now, it's no surprise that the presentation of this is adorable, but it's seriously one of the absolute cutest things P&J have ever come up with and I won't lie, I totally bought it for the applicator!
I have to talk about that first. It's white fur fabric, like a cat paw, with a satin bow and it's on a long stick. It's the most twee makeup applicator I've ever seen. I would never, ever dirty this, ever, ever, okay? No way. Given the product is intended for both cheek and eye use, it's not going to work for the latter and dirtying it aside, I'm not sure how I feel about a fluffy puff for blush. Even the box it came in had to be carefully figured out to fit both the box of powder and the long wand in (there's a hole it slots into behind the box). It's just beautiful.
The blush/eyeshadow is a large 9g pan and came in 3 colourways in this collection. Smitten Kitten is a terracotta base with brown and ivory coloured cat and white hearts. I suspect those are just an overspray, but the cat colours run all the way through. Obviously the 3 main colours can be used separately for the eyes with either your finger or a small brush, but I'd assume for your face that you'd swirl the lot together as it would be quite tricky to pick just one shade. I'm not sure I'll ever use this, it's one of those things I just love looking at in it's pristine condition.
As with all P&J collections, the different shades come in different patterned boxes, mine being the least exciting of the three, in floral. Don't get me wrong, I still like it, but the others had cats! The lid comes off completely and is held onto the base by an elasticated band a bit like a Sindy doll belt!
There were three lipsticks in this range too, the (separate) cases not actually matching up with any of the blush boxes, unusually. This collection was inspired by the French language of love and I'm definitely feeling the Parisian love with this piece. Isn't it beautiful?
