Welcome to another Flashback Beauty Friday post. I had hoped to get another blog post up this week, but unfortunately have been battling a 3-day migraine that meant I couldn't do anything. They seem to last 3 days with me now, which I'm really not enjoying. Anyway, we're not going back too far this week as the annual MAC Spring/blossom collection launched yesterday and I thought I'd share a piece from an older one. Last week I posted the flamingo 17 Miami Pop Lipgloss if you missed that.
For several years now, MAC have brought out a collection celebrating the beautiful Japanese Sakura, cherry blossom tree season, usually with regulars like lashes, the Prep + Prime Lip, Fix+ (with a cherry blossom scent) and then some eye and lip products and face powders, all in special, limited edition packaging (usually something pink)! For 2022, the collection is called Wild Cherry and I've already ordered a few bits (use code LFTASHLEIGHG for 20% off), but my item today is from the Boom Boom Bloom collection in 2019.
This is the High-Light Powder in Spring Bling and I'll admit to buying this purely as a collector, as something I'll never use (more on that later).
The packaging for this launch was a pink petal theme with white, glossy boxes and the pink blossom concentrated at the top with petals falling down on the front and back. Even the inside of the box is pale pink.
The packaging of the compact is white, though I'd describe it more as "Winter white" than bright white and the lid is transparent with the pink petal design. It's really pretty and the cool thing is, there's actually pink glitter all over. When you tilt the compact a certain way you can just see the bright sparkles, completely smooth to the touch.
The glitter is subtle in the first image, but I managed to capture it in the light where you can really see it all over.
The pressed powder inside is just as beautiful with this rippled surface and flower and falling petals embossing. It came in two colours and Spring Bling is definitely not what I'd call a highlighting shade for light or even medium skintones. Unfortunately too, the beautiful bronzed shimmer on the surface is just an overlay and does not penetrate through the powder itself. It's actually pretty sad looking when that's been removed, it looks like a dull, deep bronzing powder, absolutely no luminosity. So for that reason, I won't ever be tempted to use this, it's not going to work for my skintone and I'm happy just looking at it whilst it's this beautiful.
Boom Boom Bloom also included lipglosses and lipsticks, an eyeshadow palette, Fix+ in special packaging and a repromote of Strobe Cream. Do you remember this one?
