Flashback Beauty Friday 94: Pout Powder
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
Sorry for the no post last week, I've been struggling to keep up with very low energy levels and almost continual migraines. However, I was determined to get something up today. Last time I shared the old genie style bottle of Urban Decay Primer Potion and today I have a couple of powder items from discontinued brand, Pout.
I've featured boutique brand, Pout here many times now. They ceased trading in 2007 and anything I didn't already own, I snapped up in their clearance sales. Clearly the items today were from back when I wore makeup regularly as both are almost completely used up, a rare for me these days. The Pout packaging is so pretty, I thought they were worth keeping to photograph for these posts. First up is their Pressed Powder FP02. Pout say "A translucent powder to keep your skin shine free. Apply with puff throughout the day".
The lid of the compact bears the beautiful boudoir-esque lace print, difficult to photograph as it's all so pale, but hopefully this tilted image better illustrates. It's extremely intricate.
Mirror inside under the lid, flat puff and yeah there's no doubt I've 'hit pan' and then some! Just a little left around the edges that I couldn't get to (I always used a brush rather than the puff). Clearly I liked it.
Then we have the Translucent Loose Powder FP01 described as "a lightweight sheer powder that creates a velvety smooth finish without drying out the skin. Apply with puff over foundation for longer lasting makeup". There's 17g in here (8g in the pressed compact) and just the tiniest bit left. I actually do think I remember this, it had a very light, airy texture, kinda silicone-like but not dry-powdery like other loose powders. The dust is pure white looking, but like the pressed one, applies invisibly.
The screw top jar has the lace pattern again on the lid, I think the yellowness is discolouration due to age. The puff is no longer inside, but I used to give pretty, fluffy ones to my sister to keep, so I think she'll have it somewhere. There's a sifter and I usually knock some powder out, then into the lid and apply with a big, fluffy brush. I always preferred pressed powders, until I began using this and then went onto a Paul & Joe one. Nowadays (well on the rare occasions I wear makeup), I fluctuate between the two formats depending on what I feel like that day.
I love how Pout made even the most 'boring' products beautiful, with their lace design, even on the boxes.
