Flashback Beauty Friday 89: Anais Anais, Fleur D'Anais

Anais Anais Fleur d'anais limited edition bottle
Back to a limited edition item this week after a couple of variations of BeneFit lipgloss last time. Something a bit different too, as I've never shared a fragrance in my Flashback Beauty Friday posts before.

This is the Anais Anais, Fleur D'Anais by Cacharel. Anais Anais is a fragrance that has been around since the late 70's and because of that, I think many of us have instant associations with the past when we smell this. Probably someone we knew or us ourselves, wore this at some point and it can't help but make you feel nostalgic, especially given how recognisable the scent is.

Usually housed in an opaque white bottle with floral band (you can still buy this fragrance today), this limited edition bottle dates back to either the 90's or very early 00's at the latest. I can't quite recall when I bought it and it was one of those items that I'd not only completely forgotten I owned, but didn't even remember existed until I discovered it during a rummage in my room recently. At first sight, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic. For what, I don't know, but the smell just does that to you. I'm thinking I bought it when I worked on the beauty counter in either my school or Uni days, hence my vague release dates.

The perfume itself, a 20ml spray, comes in a carved and curved, green glass 'stem'. The lid, a dusky pink flower, in a frosted finish. I recall a 'plant pot' version too, the pot being the green glass with the pink flower on top.

AA is a very floral scent, I'd describe it as old-fashioned, but soft and cosy. I think for some it's probably too floral and it can be quite powdery. I've always had a soft spot for it personally. I think it's the lily-of-the-valley that feels quite dated, yet it's that I'm rather fond of (I detect lotv in Gucci Bloom (haven't checked for sure that it's in that), but that's a fragrance I wear and like a lot, that is a modern scent with an old fashioned feel). Whilst I do like AA, it's not my most favourite fragrance, but there's something so comforting about it.  I think that sense of having "always been there" has entwined it in our memories, so I would never be dismissive of it, as I feel it has some sort of historical fragrant significance which has led to it becoming quietly iconic over the decades.

Like it or loathe it, I think this limited edition bottle is beautiful.  Do you remember this one?
