Hello, I finally made it to the last of my Irregular Choice Mickey & Friends reviews! It wouldn't usually take me this long to get through everything, but as I've said before, it was really unfortunate that my gallbladder surgery coincided with this release and put me out of action for a little while. Though I'm extremely happy that it happened as quickly as it did and it's all over now! I bought another Disney bag a couple of weeks ago, which I haven't had time to photograph and for once, my sister got a pair of shoes from this collection too, so the Disney reviews aren't totally over yet. I have quite a few other IC things that have sneaked their way in over the past couple of months, so there's all that to follow.
Ok, so I've been saving this Chip n Dale bag, because it's my favourite handbag from this collection. I was so excited to see this; the shape, the pattern, the characters, I fell in love and it was the last item I got from my wishlist. Yes, mild to moderate panic had set-in during the 3 hour wait on launch day! This is the only item I managed to get direct from IC, with my queue issues and thank goodness it was still in stock as it had sold out everywhere else by then and I felt this one wasn't as widely available as some of the other styles. As mentioned in previous posts, I was thrilled that the same material was used in this and the Sherbet Ice Cream heels I have and of course, I couldn't resist buying the coin purse for a gorgeous floral trio. My triple dream team.
You may recall last Spring I bought Flounder, which was the first (for me) of this bag shape, though it's been around for years now. I've been using Flounder quite regularly recently, so I knew it was a shape that worked for me and I was very restrained buying just this one as there were 4 other variations in this collection. I'd call it compact, but it's quite deceiving because it holds a lot more than you think it would. It's got quite a solid base and frame top, but the main body is soft and less structured. The main fabric is the bright floral that was used in Sherbet Ice Cream (SIC), Floral Minnie (FM) and of course the coordinating Chip n Dale purse. There's a red suedette trim around the bag, as with the purse, which also mirrors the scalloped edging on FM and the sole edge on SIC.
The base is made from the same shiny gold metallic used in the bow of Oh My the other week and the stars on Whoa. I don't know why this stuff excites me so much, because it's plain, but there's something about the vast smoothness that appeals! The gold continues onto the short fixed handle across the top of the bag and the front frame which slips underneath the red back frame when closed. The bag has an interesting fastening. There's a small flap which opens and closes with a magnetic stud, flip this up and beneath you'll find the frame with a small tab and popper. Open the stud and the frames separate to open the bag (they are hinged at the side). I find on Flounder the outer flap doesn't always easily find it's way closed, but CnD seemed to magnetically snap into place quicker. The contrast flap and side gussets are in the same blue polka dot fabric that was used in the bows on SIC and FM and there's an applique acorn which is mirrored on the purse. I love how this all ties in and the acorn is a bit of an 'irregular' detail, I like it!
Once inside, you'll find the usual shimmering gold metallic lining with a zipped pocket on one side and pouch on the other. There's a large Irregular Choice and Disney branded label inside and the Mickey head shaped tag that all the accessories came with. This bag also comes with a detachable, adjustable, longer strap in floral with gold edging. This fastens to the rings at the side of the fixed handle on top.
The front of the bag is dominated by the cheeky chipmunks, Chip and Dale. They are embroidered and made from soft metallic and 'hairy' fabrics, so are very tactile. I told you before about the hands didn't I? I still have no idea why I drool over that aspect, but I really could gobble up their cuteness. The detail is impeccable, with the heavier embroidery around part of the eyelid, Dale's red nose, hair and side teeth, Chip's darker skin and front teeth, they are just straight out of a Disney book or show.
This is another brilliant piece from this magical collection. I hope you've enjoyed the reviews thus far and I'll get those other two up for you at some point along with the other bits and bobs. Keep up to date with me on Instagram and Facebook and I've linked to my previous reviews below if you missed any.
