Paul & Joe Advent Calendar 2021

I mentioned in my Flashback Beauty Friday post last week that I was looking forward to the Paul & Joe advent calendar launching and it's here! I thought it was November until it came out, so I was surprised to see it at the weekend.  I bought it immediately as I didn't want to miss out and they do tend to sell quickly.

I won't be previewing what's inside yet as I want to open it during December each day (as it should be), but you can see what's inside on the link page and if you buy it, it does list everything that's inside, on the outer packaging. The Paul & Joe Makeup Collection 2021 retails for £98 with a value of £186. Last year there wasn't a calendar, a lot of beauty brands didn't bother, which I thought was a bit of a pity as we all could've done with some added cheer. However, I did buy the 2019 one and absolutely loved it, so I was hoping there would be one for 2021.

It's much the same as 2019, with a mixture of makeup items, skincare and the odd body bit. There's also several accessories and like last time, the lipsticks and powder products (blush and eyeshadow) come on separate days from the cases and compacts, much like how they are available separately in the main collections throughout the year.

Despite being a 24 day calendar, it's not weighty and I was pleased with the size as it isn't too bulky and easily closes to a more compact shape. It's in 3 joined compartments which open out so that there's 4 sides of doors. The illustrations are seriously beautiful. There's the usual P&J quirkiness with traditional, vintage Christmas themes and of course Gypsy and Nounette (founder Sophie's cats).

The door sizes and shapes vary and are traditional perforated card, that look like they'll be easy to open. Also the numbers (digits) all seem clear and easy to find. I get really frustrated with ones with mixed numerical and written numbers, it really messes with my brain.

I think I'll have a hard time recycling this afterwards, it's all so pretty! I adore the lamb, so am especially pleased to know there's a compact inside with a beautiful retro lamb image. Would you be interesting in me keeping you updated with this when I open it? I used to post daily advent openings on Instagram during December, but seeing as I wasn't using that last year, I did show my Irregular Choice advent picture boots here with...weekly summaries, was it? I don't want to Elf On The Shelf style bore you 😜 but every year I did get requests to keep posting my advent goodies, so I'm happy to do it if there's interest.  *Update* the calendar sold out very quickly, but is now available here.
