Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels

In my last post I mentioned I ordered the latest concept heel from Irregular Choice and I've been eagerly awaiting their arrival today (the posty kept me waiting). The more I've seen of them (all) this week, the more they've appealed to me. I thought they were "nice" at first, but they've grown on me so quickly, to be "gorgeous" by today! They are so, so beautiful and have loads of lovely details which make them so typically "Irregular Choice". Some of you know that I was a bit perplexed as to how to style them though, as my last few character heel releases have involved rather monumental settings for photos (which have grown more flamboyant each time). I feel like it's my signature now and you've come to expect it, so I didn't want to let you down! Flowers or hearts were obvious to me, but I couldn't think of much else. However inspiration struck yesterday and I planned this amazing shoot, which as usual, was heaps of fun to set up (not so fun to tidy up). Thanks to my sister for lending me several 'props'. She perfectly understood and shared my vision for a kitschy, teen, vintage, heart-throb set-up. I've been teasing you with photos on Facebook and Instagram all day (follow/add me if you haven't seen them yet) so here are the shoes in all their glory.  I imagine Donny Osmond* "Puppy Love" is playing whilst you read this (*before my time too)!Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels

I ordered the pink True Love and couldn't be happier with that choice. I thought initially they were quite similar to the black pair, but there's no black in these at all. The front dark bit is shimmering burgundy. The sheen can transform the colour from light to dark depending on the light. The lace overlay is a very dark brown (and gold) and those are the only 'darker' colours. The glitter (platform and heel) are pale pink and underneath that lace is an amazing tone of pink, really rich and yummy. The contrast of the lace over the top of such a colour is just gorgeous. That pink was deeper than I imagined, but otherwise they were as I expected. Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels platform Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels lace glitter detail
On the front, you have a puffy heart embroidered with hearts and "I Love You" (the backing is the same as the lining-more on that later) and underneath this is a large pale pink, velvet ribbon tied into a bow. Behind that are puffy, holographic wings. I've spoken of this fabric lots before (it's been the trim on many a shoe and bag) and it's truly stunning in real life, changing colour under the light. These wings are attached to the shoe at the sides with small but very stretchy pieces of elastic, sewn into the shoe. I didn't find this tight in the slightest, it doesn't really act like a strap (not tight enough and the shoe too heavy) and it's not difficult to get your foot past, like Fairies In A Jar. The lining is the gorgeous purple floral (so soft, I'm gonna die) that was inside the Poker Joker boots, trimmed with the same holographic snakeskin of the wings. They look awesome sitting with no feet in them with their matching inner/outer! The sole (and box) feature the adorable forest animals for Autumn/Winter. Then we have the heel. Like I said originally, it has an almost wedge like appearance in red perspex with carved details. The base is reasonably narrow though, so they don't feel like a wedge to walk on. I don't have any photos yet of the heel lighting up, but I will when I have more time. It flashes, quite subtly when you walk and works better on hard flooring or outside, rather than softer carpets. It's very similar to Low Level Danger, a flickering flash, not a constant light. Obviously the darker it is, the better you'll see the light and so when I was taking photos this afternoon, it wasn't really the best time. Size wise, I opted for the size up (39/6). When I first tried them, I felt there wasn't much room to wiggle my toes and that I'd made the right choice. Then I walked in them and they slipped off my heel a bit (especially on one foot, which I actually thought was my larger foot), so now I'm doubting that. As seems to be the case lately, I'm in between sizes. I'm not convinced the 5/38 would fit and worry that the wings would be tighter across the foot, causing the elastic to stretch (whereas there's no pull on them in this size). The shoe is pretty heavy, which adds to it wanting to pull away from your foot.  So I think I'd recommend taking your usual size.  Irregular Choice True Love Heart shoe Irregular Choice True Love Heart shoes Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels side Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels front Irregular Choice True Love Heart Heels back
So what do you think?  Definitely check out my Instagram and Facebook for close-up photos of the 'teen bedroom' and I'll try and pop some up on my Tumblr this weekend too.  Leave your comments below and I also want to hear who your teen/childhood celebrity crushes were.  No matter how cringey (Jason Donovan, Jordan from NKOTB, Dieter Brummer).  You can also check out how these shoes look on the foot, in Shoesday Tuesday and I uploaded a video to YouTube of them flashing!

    1. I wanted to be Angel soooo badly because I loved Shane! I did my hair like her and everything! He was in Neighbours recently and though he hasn't really changed....euch, don't know what I saw in him!! Thank you, it might be my favourite background!

  2. The interiors lately are becoming as cute as the puters. Also, it looks like the bronze/burgundy fabric at the front might be the same stuff as on the 'Glissade' wedges (I have the pink) and the black 'Quantum'- that shimmery holo dot print matrix over microfiber/suede.

I was hoping said bronze was more burgundy like in the Instagram photo IC released, but I can deal, it's like chocolate covered strawberries.

    2. It looks like it could be the same type as Quantum, though I've only seen them online. Certainly my green Glissade are different, they are proper metallic and feel shiny. I don't know if the pink are the same as that as I've only seen those online too. As a sidenote, had I had the chance of the pink ones here, I'd have got them for sure, soooo pretty! Yeah it definitely shifts between chocolate and burgundy, with pinky/purpley tones.

    3. Same stuff as Quantum and the pink Glissades, yep. I'll try to take a pic in the next few days.

I'm disappointed right now, the Glissades fit perfect when I got them (size 41), but now that the cancer came back my left foot is swelling too much to put them on. Not sure if I should wait or try to stretch. Anyway, I thought the uppers were like a pink rubber before they got here, but it's deffo that coated suedette stuff, and they're beautiful. My husband picked them out for me, so props to his good taste.

He liked these heart ones a lot more in person too.

    4. I've found that too. When I've been moving pairs into the shoe room that I haven't tried for a while, they just don't fit now! I have a pair of Sophia Webster shoes that won't even look at my feet and yet they fitted fine last time I wore them. I think since I've been less active, my ankles/feet have swollen/are bigger than they used to be (I haven't been aware of putting on weight elsewhere).

The green Glissade must be different to the pink then, because mine feel shiny and smooth unlike the trim on True Love.

Hopefully that works. Printed dot color (shiny) over soft pink stuff. And oh no, your poor feet. Autoimmune disease sucks.

    6. Aww. ;.; And yeah, it sounds like they used completeky different material for each glissade. Lemme see if I can photilograph...

    7. That does help, thank you for that. It's funny, my brain still tricks me into thinking it's the same fabric as the green, until I see the close-up photo. Such a beautiful shade of pink.

    8. I'm thinking of swapping out the pink ribbons for a pink and black polka dot or something, to try to bring the upper and the platform together. But that might ruin the concept of ballerina shoes with the pink laces, arg.

  3. Oh WOW these are lovely with some gorgeous detailing! The bunny on the sole! LOVE LOVE LOVE and the heel is really special too. You know, strangely I don't think I had any childhood/teen crushes. I have a few now but it's not real people but characters portrayed (Bard from Generation Kill, Illya from Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Loki from Avengers - I have weird taste.)

    1. Haha. I actually wanted to be Kylie Minogue soooo bad because I wanted to date Jason Donovan, I was obsessed with them both. I totally crush on characters too...then would be really disappointed when i found out they were nothing like that in real life!
