River Island Cherry Shoes

Finally got my River Island order today. It was dispatched on the 3rd June, but because of the weekend, I had to wait for it : (
I'm disappointed with the dresses, they are all gorgeous, but don't fit properly. Two definitely don't fit and the other two just aren't all that great on me. I'm not blaming the sizing of RI, because I think they are quite generous, it's (surprise, surprise) my boobies that ruined it. The Eiffel Tower and floral are the ones that don't fit and they are the most spectacular of the lot, I'm gutted. I'll maybe post pics later in the week, I'm not sure which ones I'm keeping and now because some ass "possibly" had my bank card details, I've to wait for a new card, then will surely have hassle trying to get a refund onto a different card, bleh! Anyway some quick shoe photos for you, because I knew you wouldn't want to wait for these!
The shoes were well worth the order. Much, much classier than I expected. I thought the gems would be those cheapy, stuck on types, but they are mega sparkly and really make the shoe look fabulous. I love them, although I'm annoyed that there are some little marks on the satin. When I'm buying new shoes, especially over the internet when I know nobody has had the opportunity to try them on, I expect them to be pristine. RI did wrap them very carefully with tissue, I'm just not sure whether to accept them or ask for another pair (although I know my local store don't have any, so I'd have to return them and get another pair online and knowing my luck in that time they would sell out and I'd be left with no shoesies at all). What do you think, aren't they pretty super?

Too Faced Glamour Gloss

Oooh, I'm really keen to try these new glosses from Too Faced. Glamour Gloss is similarly packaged to their Lip Of Luxury lipsticks, which I like-pretty pink with a bit of bling. GG has the benefit of plumping like Lip Injection but with a cooling effect, which I'm hoping is similar to my ultimate fave (now discontinued) lip plumper by Pout. From what I've seen of the colours online, they look really pretty. I definitely need the nude First Time (below left) and perhaps the mauve shimmer called Pillow Talk (below right). The UK seems to only have 6 of the twelve shades for now, but I have my eye on the lovely beige Champagne Room. Get them from Boots or Asos, £14 each and perhaps try the new Lip Insurance primer (also £14), if it's anything like their Shadow Insurance for eyes, it'll be marvelous!

Barry M Mushroom Nail Paint

I've been on a no-buy the past couple of weeks, but allowed myself a little fiver treat of a couple of nail paints from Barry M. You may remember I was interested in the Mushroom "greige" colour from the Barry M website. I emailed them to ask when it would be instore (after checking my local Boots) and they never replied, tsk! My sister however eventually found it in Superdrug (as of last week Boots still don't stock it), after I got bored of waiting for the reply from BM.
I was worried it would be too similar to my Topshop Nails in Big Smoke, but you can definitely justify buying both. Mushroom is much more brown, whereas BS turned out more grey and is lighter. I was very pleased with the quality of Mushroom and managed with only one coat.
The other colour I bought was 295 Pure Turquoise.

My Happy Cathy Dress

Yesterday I also had a rather large splurge in Primark, although the dent that leaves in my bank balance is somewhat more bearable than River Island! I was looking for little skirts to wear underneath dresses for added swishy-ness or to wear alone with my Barbie t-shirts because I own so many dresses these days I rarely wear separates.
I ended up with 4 different skirts, 2 lace dresses and 2 floral dresses. The prettiest bargain had to be this little summer, strappy dress (although it needs a good iron). I adore the print, very Cath Kidston or 'Cathy' as we affectionately call her in our house. I was tempted to buy another, purely for the fabric! There were only a few and no size 18's, but as it turned out the size 16 was pretty big on me, yipee! I may need to pop on a little belt with it. And the damage? A whole £7.50! Bargain.

Big River Island Haul

I ordered my pink Miu Miu style shoesies (£54.99) from River Island yesterday. I had gone instore to check them out but Dundee didn't have them. They didn't have all that much in the way of shoes at all actually. I could've spent a fortune in there on clothes and accessories, I seem to have developed quite an obsession with RI. I saw loads of dresses I liked, but oodles of size 8's and 10's and no 18's anywhere!
River Island were going to feel my wrath with their lack of bigger sizes, but I have noticed in recent months that they are producing more styles up to a size 18 online...still not plus sizes unfortunately. I have no idea how the dresses I ordered are going to fit or if they'll fit at all. When I used to shop there in my 'skinny' days, I'm sure they were cut quite generously. It's funny though how there are things that jump out to you in the shop but online you wouldn't look twice at them and vice versa.

The first dress £34.99 in the image below has little cut out sections in the sides-although I'll wear a vest top underneath as I don't want my skin showing-I just otherwise liked the style (it has cute little bows on the shoulders) and print. It's nowhere near as bright as this in person...it may be a possibility for wearing to my friends wedding this summer, we'll see. The 2nd, this gorgeous prom dress, I reckon has an Eiffel Tower print on it, although it's very hard to tell with the crappy images online. Actually the whole RI website design drives me mad, it took 3 attempts until I could checkout yesterday because my pop up blocker blocked the payment page and emptied my basket! Plus after you've been on the site a little while, none of the categories work and you get 'there are currently no items in this category' (when 5 minutes ago there were 16 pages)! One dress I saw instore and had to have was a bright floral number, really bold colours, it was in my basket but after a failed attempt at checking out, it disappeared and was removed from the site completely. So I had to place the order without it. This morning I notice it has been reduced (half price), which is really annoying, especially as the largest size instore was a 16-so I can't buy it there.
Another dress that looks nothing like it does in this image is this cherry printed one £29.99. The colours are much more faded in real life, but it's still very pretty. Again it has a cut out section this time at the back, so I'll always be wearing it with a cardi or something underneath. Finally, I've been after this peachy polka dot dress £29.99 for months. It comes with a little crown brooch (which you can't see in the image) and I like the cute frills on the skirt.
I emptied my bank account with this order, after being on a no-buy for the past couple of weeks-I blame withdrawal symptoms on my serious splurge! So I have to curtail my spending yet again. Something I saw instore which looked and felt luscious was this blue floral blazer (£34.99 above). It is the softest, flimsiest fabric, absolutely perfect for summer. I'm not really a jacket person, nor do I think it would go with the types of things I wear, but was still sorely tempted with it. It doesn't look much in the online image, but is so gorgeous in real life. It would look fabulous with denim, a slouchy t-shirt, long pendants and a trilby, like you threw the look together yet still look stunning! When I checked online there are actually a few other versions (also shown above £34.99).
