Bought & Thought

Dior Gentle Cleansing Milk
We haven't had one of these posts for a while have we? Actually the last time I did Bought & Thought was the middle of January which by sheer coincidence was a review of Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil (click that if you haven't already read it). I finished that bottle, so I moved onto their Gentle Cleansing Milk (200ml, £20.70) which I'll be reviewing today.  I bought the oil as a possible substitute for the discontinued Lancome Baume Eclat, but I knew this milk would be something completely different.
It comes in the same style of packaging as the oil, a pump dispenser, which I can't fault for practicality.  I find two pumps ample for one application.  I think Dior are doing it a disservice by dubbing it "milk" though.  It's without a doubt the richest, creamiest cleanser I've ever tried.  I was in awe the first time I tried it, it just feels absolutely amazing, so smooth.  The scent however, does not appeal to me at all.  I can only describe it as an old-fashioned floral (the peony perhaps).  It doesn't linger (though once my sensitive nose has smelt it once, I can't forget it), but it's enough to put me off buying it again.  I can't comment on it's makeup removing abilities (apparently it removes eye makeup too), because I haven't been wearing any, so can only talk about how it cleansed.   It feels very gentle (which it should as it's meant for dry/sensitive skin), is effortless to apply and doesn't leave skin feeling tight after washing off (again, good for dry skin).  I couldn't find any information on the bottle as to how to apply it (which I find really annoying), so I've been applying to a dry face and washing off.  I figured most cream cleansers use this method.  I've been experiencing continual bad breakouts along my jaw/chin, so have stopped using it for now (it could be my moisturiser that's causing this or something else entirely).  I'll slowly introduce it (and other possible culprits) back into my routine, one at a time and hopefully find out which one is causing problems. If I were to compare the milk and oil, it's definitely the oil I prefer.  My skin seemed to like it better, it definitely didn't cause breakouts and I didn't mind the scent, so I wouldn't buy the milk again.  Have you tried this or any of the Dior cleansers?    bought and thought quote
Above is a quote from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  One of the gargoyles says it to Quasimodo, who is locked away and watches the people and world below him.  They were trying to encourage him to get out there.  I can definitely relate to that feeling of watching life pass you by (minus being locked up by an evil master, speaking to stone animals, naming bells and having a deformity of course!), though it's going to take more than a cape and some encouraging words to get me better and back out there!

  1. Hugs. Same here, life is whizzing past and I'm barely existing, let alone participating. I love the little troll in the first photo. I hope we both feel better soon. xx

  2. Life does seem to be zooming by! I'm very fussy about cream smells! Not sure how I'd feel about old-fashioned floral!x

    1. Yeah it's like an old lady type of smell that I'd try to hold my nose if I smelt it! I think I'd get accustomed to it (and I'll have to, to use the rest of it), but it's just not that pleasant. maybe someone else will love that smell, I don't know!

  3. If a product doesn't have a nice smell it doesn't work for me at all, no matter how good it actually is :/
