Review: Beuti Beauty Sleep Elixir

Sometimes you get sent something to review and it doesn't wow you, nor do you hate it. It's just so-so. Those reviews are really hard to write, because you're stuck for something to say. Thankfully this product I'm about to show you, is firmly in the 'wow' camp which makes my job an easy one. It's the Beauty Sleep Elixir* by Beuti Skincare, a face oil containing an impressive 14 precious plant oils.
It's marketed as an anti-inflammaging (AI) product, aiming to both protect and repair skin damage. Firstly, if inflammaging is a new term to you, I'll try to explain the process, so you don't go through this entire review without a clue what I'm talking about. If you already know, you can probably skip this paragraph!
The basic version is inflammaging occurs due to chronic inflammation of the skin, which in turn causes skin ageing. So say you exfoliate too much or exposure to the sun or pollution is an issue for you, this will show itself through redness of the skin, but it's what's happening underneath (that can't be seen) that this product targets. The root of the issue if you like. It becomes one of these vicious cycles where repeatedly damaged skin attempts to repair itself, but is weakened and where it overcompensates in one area, that attacks something else, causing an issue elsewhere and basically breaking down the natural functions of the skin barrier and this is when you'll notice visible disruptions on your skin. The process just repeats without ever properly fixing itself. AI products though, target the likes of collagen and elastin (which you'll have heard of in anti-ageing) to restore the skin barrier allowing it to function as it should. When that's working tickety boo, collagen is restored to healthy levels, thus skin elasticity and texture is improved and anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatories and SPF all work together to prevent future damage, thus cutting down on inflammation and improving the (underneath and on-top) skin surface, which will leave you looking fresher and younger. Phew, that was the biggest technical bit, now onto my thoughts.
Firstly, the oil comes in a glass bottle with plastic pump dispenser. Though it's quite basic, it's a real dinky and cute looking bottle that looks lovely sitting on the dressing table! The pump is a nice way of dispensing the product (oils tend to come with droppers), though I found my ideal application would probably be 1 1/2 pumps. Two is quite a lot of product, but just one pump definitely feels like you're scrimping. The bit I completely misunderstood was the plastic lid, which doesn't click shut, but just sits there like a cap. If you pop this into a soap bag, it's going to come off immediately, which in my view defeats it's purpose (though it's unlikely the pump could press down of it's own accord).
The oil is a rich looking orange colour, which is quite runny once in your hand. I used to apply my previous face oil like this, so did the same here-warming the oil between my palms and then patting onto the face. I've been using it at night, on it's own without a moisturiser. It says it can also be worn under makeup, but I haven't been wearing any, so can't comment on that.
The first thing that hits you is the amazing scent, a real blend of the oils used, such as sandalwood and lavender. That alone makes it feel like a luxury spa treatment every time you apply it. It is strong, but it doesn't linger. Being 100% natural and using 98% organic oils, I'll try and run through the ingredients and what they do (I may have cheated and looked a few up that I was unsure of). Cranberry seed oil and camellia oil provide you with omega 3, 6 and 9 and vitamins A, B and E. Both cranberry and camellia aid the absorption of the oil into the skin, leaving it super soft, protecting against UV damage while hydrating and plumping. Omega 3 and 6 and vitamins A and E are also found in the red raspberry seed oil. Neroli essential oil aids skin regeneration, fading scars or blemishes. Blueberry seed oil promotes cell and tissue repair (and is great for sensitive skin) and sweet cherry oil improves skin tone and contains vitamins A and E. Your antioxidants and omega 7 and 5 and can be found in seabuckthorn berry oil and pomegranate seed oil, which is also a good anti-inflammatory. Pomegranate works to reverse past skin damage, revealing younger, fresher looking skin in the process. Sagging skin is tightened with geranium essential oil which also reduces oil production in oily skin and is therefore good for acne prone skin types. Softalia nut oil reduces fine lines (it claims with visible results in just 8 days), Caribbean coral fights ageing, sunburn and acne, while chia seed (rich in omega 3) prevents skin breakouts and evens the tone of the skin, reducing pores. Lavender calms redness (and is lovely to use just before bed), sandalwood is an astringent (so again good for spots) and also retains moisture in the skin and finally strawberry seed oil repairs the skin barrier and is another that is well absorbed into the skin. That list is both epic and somewhat daunting, but it really allows you to see exactly which part is doing what and understand why it's breaking that cycle underneath the skin and in turn improving how the outer layer of skin looks and feels. They really have something in there for everything.
This is probably why I can't fault the oil itself. It does exactly what it says, it's beauty sleep in a bottle! I wake up with gorgeous glowing, fresh, rejuvenated, plump looking skin. My face feels so soft and I can't help but take a moment to admire it in the mirror each morning as I go to cleanse. It's noticeable from the first application, but of course the long term benefits are going to be even more impressive. The glow and freshness is what startles me most, my skin looks well rested and so healthy. With all those oils aiding absorption into the skin, it really does 'disappear' quickly upon application. Last night I put it on and checked my face in the mirror, less than a minute later and it wasn't at all shiny or oily looking.
Sensitive and acne or blemish prone skin, please don't be afraid of this oil. No matter how nutritious a product claims to be, my face will instantly hate it. If I try something new or take something out of my usual routine, my skin will react (normally with a spot breakout). It usually calms down within a few weeks, but I've been using this oil instead of my regular moisturiser and there's been absolutely no detrimental effects. I'll admit I was shocked!
I'd thoroughly recommend this product, it's rare you find something that does what it says on the tin (or bottle in this case)! Results are noticeable right away and will only improve long-term as 'normality' is restored and the skin repairs damage and begins to function as it should. If you want that youthful, beautiful glow, this is the product for you. I hope my review wasn't too bamboozling with all the ingredients, but it's really worth mentioning all that is contained in this magical potion and what it aims to reverse. The Beauty Sleep Elixir can be found here, here or here and is priced £42 for 30ml.  Do you think this is something you'd like to try?

    1. It's lovely and a total bonus that my fussy skin hasn't badly reacted to it.

  3. I think this must be very good, but I can't use oils (medical advice for me); still, it looks good and I never heard of inflammaging before :) Also, you are right, the lid doesn't feel good. But I think that the product seems to be good! Sorry I didn't come here before, I caught the swine flu, and one needs to rest a lot... it's still a bit deadly :)
