Inspiretty #79

A kinda lacklustre Inspiretty today-I really don't know how it got to this time and I haven't really done anything! I've been making new header banners for both blogs and it's so easy to waste hours playing around with pictures, colours and fonts! This dress popped into my inbox this morning, new in at River Island, very Easter like I thought!

Inspiretty #78

I kinda missed the launch of the new 'Pop Romance' lipsticks from Lime Crime last month (oops). There are three in the collection, Mint To Be (mint obvi), New Yolk City (yellow and such a cute name) and this one, Coquette, the most luscious, creamy looking nude that definitely sets my pulse racing (nude lippies do that to me). I want it desperately and the good news is, it's available from Cocktail Cosmetics in the UK right now.

My Perfect Blog!

I've just had to install Google Chrome because an update to my computer this morning installed an upgrade from Internet Explorer 8 to 9 and then after that I couldn't get blogger to work (you can write posts but can't publish them, so beware of using IE9 if you blog)!! GC seems to have worked and also helped the spacing issue that's been going on for the past month with Blogger/IE and I've been able to go back over old posts and edit them so the spaces are sorted (to appease my blogger OCD and my blog is once more spacing perfect)! Good points are obviously that I can get blog posts to work and it's super quick plus I like the Cath Kidston floral theme I've picked for my browser! My only gripe is it keeps saying "'shockwave flash' plug in crash" all the time...which means flashplayer isn't working and as most sites use that (plus my blog videos), I can't see them or use them. I did a quick google search and someone suggested moving to Safari! I'm soooo not changing browsers again, three times in one day is too many and I'm not setting up different browsers for different jobs. I'll just use IE for the majority of my work just now and GC for blogging (although I don't know what will happen when I try to upload a video to my blog?)-does anyone know how to fix this? Do I have to install flashplayer on GC even although it's already on my computer or will it still be a problem? There's not even anything to click on to get help when the bar comes up to say it's crashed...

Inspiretty #76

I've seen several images from the newest Illamasqua 'Toxic Nature' collection recently. However this is the first time I've seen this one and I was a little freaked out-that's my hair! Exact same colours and pretty much the same style...freaked out!!

Peacock FOTD 15/04

The best thing about changing your hair colour is getting to wear different makeup shades. I've been leaning more towards keeping my eyes simple with a flick of black liner and playing up my lips with lilac and pink colours such as MAC's Blooming Lovely, Viva Glam Gaga and Pink Friday (which I've since misplaced-hope I haven't lost it after the bother I went through to buy it) and yesterday I wore NYX Strawberry Milk which almost never works for me but looked fab yesterday.
Last Friday however, I decided it was time to play with eye colours and pulled out this old Pout palette called Masque de la Nuit which contains a trio of eyeshadows to create a peacocky eye. They aren't the most pigmented I've ever used in fact it's a pity as they are gorgeous rich shades in the pan but this doesn't reflect in a swatch or on the eye. I've been increasingly loving using coloured eye pencils underneath my powder eyeshadows though, to give them kick. Any poor pigmented shadow come to life when you apply over a good base and the colour is super long-lasting too. A few years back I went crazy for these pencils and then they've sat there unloved as I always resort to using my trusty black-so I'm pleased I've found a use for them. My favourites are No7 Metallic Eyes (which I used here), MAC and Urban Decay. As you will see in these swatches, the eyeshadow alone is pretty crappy. When worn over the top of the pencil (shade 01 Green), the colour is rich and shimmering. I always wear a primer (either Urban Decay or Too Faced), then apply the base pencil all the way from lashline to crease, then apply the eyeshadow as I please. The primer stops the pencil creasing although these brands tend to be non-crease anyway. So here's the finished look. I used the ivory shade to highlight the brow bone, the green up to the crease (perhaps just slightly over) and the blue in the outer corner and socket to define as well as smudging some along the lower lashline. On my face is the usual Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1c1 Shell, Pout concealer and pressed powder. Lancome black kohl and L'Oreal SuperLiner in Carbon Black with No7 Exquisite Curl mascara. On my cheeks is MAC My Highland Honey and I thought I wore my MAC Plushglass in Bubble Tea although it looks darker in these pics, so perhaps not...!
