Happy New Year peeps! I hope this one is a healthy and happy one for you all. I've seen loads of blog summary posts or a look back over the year, however, I'm not sure I have the patience (or time) to look through a year of outfits or hundreds of pairs of shoes! So instead, I've put together this little compilation of my hair colour throughout 2013. This was the year I bought very little dye and used up all the random bottles I'd been storing. I also (mainly) stuck to full head applications with the exception of contrasting tips once. I'm very much led by mood in terms of my style, from my hair colour to what I wear each day, even down to the colour of my nails. However I never felt pulled in any one direction during 2013. I had a passion for purple hair at one point, but that fizzled out and I just felt a bit unsure of what to do next or finding something I haven't already tried over the years. I'm in a bit of a quandary as to where to go next with my hair. Below is my most recent hair colour time-line. Starting at the top left, I mixed a random concoction of maybe half a bottle of Manic Panic Ultra Violet (purple) with Bubblegum Blue and Lilac by Crazy Color. I don't know exactly how much of each I used, I was making it up as I went along until it looked like I had enough dye in the bowl (I'd guess at half or 1/3 of each bottle). It came out a beautiful bright, vivid, purple, faded to violet, then a dusky lilac until it's practically grey. I thought it faded pretty fast. I'm down to washing my hair as little as possible (dry shampoo is my BFF), but even without washing, it still fades week by week. Although when I look back it was the middle of April I first coloured it, then by the end of May (top right) it was so pale but my dark roots still weren't noticeable, so I touched up the colour (bottom right) without needing to bleach it. If you follow my Facebook and/or The Shoe Girl Diaries , then you'll already know that I now have blue hair! A slight change to my regular turquoise. When I was lilac and looking for a new colour, I decided to go purple. I did the research, bought the dye (Manic Panic Amplified 'Ultra-Violet'), then my Mum freaked out at the colour in the bottle, telling me it would stain her new bathroom and I was banned from using it. A strop a 3 year-old would be embarrassed by and a whole lot of sulking later we compromised by using an unused tub of Manic Panic Amplified 'Atomic Turquoise' I had left over from before the lilac phase. It was that or the unattractive yellow/bleach period I was in, so there wasn't much choice really. I wasn't best pleased that I hadn't got my own way and although I like the turquoise, I'd already had months of it and wanted something different.
