Irregular Choice: Maleficent Bag (Disney Princesses)

Just a quick post tonight of something I bought back in early Spring. I'd had my eye on this Irregular Choice Maleficent bag since the preview, prior to the launch of the Sleeping Beauty collection in the Disney Princesses series last year. Shape wise though, it's really not practical for me, so I didn't get it. Fast forward to March and it was ridiculously cheap on eBay, so I couldn't resist! I posted it on my Instagram Stories at the time and I'll say what I said there, this will be a display piece for me. It's not often (if ever?) I buy something that I don't intend to wear/use.  For the past few months anyway, she keeps guard in the spare room (where I spend all my time) on top of this shelving unit that is housing some of my IC bags.  Obviously she has to go on the top shelf because of her shape.  She's always catching my eye throughout the day.

It's a backpack that can be used as a shoulder bag, but with being in a wheelchair, bags sit on my lap and I don't really use the handle/straps at all. The shape of this...the horns would take my eyes out or I'd resemble one of those wee fork-lift trucks if I laid it flat with the horns sticking out in front of me! I couldn't have justified it as an 'ornament' at full price, but definitely could for what I paid.
The bag part is round and uses some awesome materials, the chunky glitter section is incredible, such a vivid colour. I adore the material on her face though, it's a soft metallic green but colour shifts in the light from a yellow-ish green to turquoise to lilac, it's amazing. Sometimes you get all those colours in the face at once. 

The black patent is also fantastic, it really adds to the character and the horns are actually lightly stuffed. 

I wasn't that crazy about the SB range, that launch was the least exciting for me, not a lot appealed to my taste.  That was a good thing though after Snow White and Mulan and before Belle and my beloved Ariel!  However I do love this bag, it's such a statement piece, the tights were awesome too!
