Flashback Beauty Friday 93: Versace Glam Couture
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifted items.
I've been unsuccessfully trying to buy the new Dior Holiday collection since it launched a couple of days ago on their site, however they've been having technical issues with payment. Thankfully it's all fixed today, so I'm hoping I get it tomorrow, but if not it'll be Monday. Usually DPD bring it on the Saturday even if it's not due until Monday. Ideally I wanted it before the weekend, but it can't be helped. Anyway this week I have some more discontinued items after my beautiful limited edition Dior Beauty Confidential 'envelope' palette last week.
I've featured Versace here several times before. The fashion house branched out into makeup in the late 90's before being phased out around 2009. I have a very big collection of their items and there's some real gems, like these Glam Couture, Creamy Eye Shadow. Sold individually, the 7ml squeezy tubes (with narrow nozzle) came in rich, metallic colours. Although they look pretty pristine and full here, I've really used these a lot over the years.
I always mention the packaging with Versace and how perfectly on brand it is. It reminds me a bit of Dolce & Gabbana's makeup line, that it's just instantly recognisable with the fashion brand. There's the usual gold border detailing, Medusa head on the lid and even a chain charm dangling from the end.
As with previous Versace products, the shades are just forgettable numbers rather than names; I have V2055-O (light golden olive green), V2056-O (true vivid purple) and V2057-O (candy pink). All have a metallic finish, a strong one at that. Just look at my swatches to see how when my arm is tilted, they glow like they're lit up (no colour/light edits have been made to the swatch photos). The pink comes out a lot lighter than it looks in the tube. As they are a cream product and now very old, I did have trouble swatching them as they've really solidified over the years. I was honestly squeezing with all my might and a little, semi-hard worm popped out! So that's why there's lumps and now my tubes look very deflated! However, you could still get a good look at the colours, so I thought they were worth sharing. It used to be much more liquid like and I either used these as a base for powder products or they had enough pigment to be worn alone.Like I say, I used these a lot. If Versace resurrected their makeup line, I'd probably be all over it if it was anything like it used to be. Fun colours, on brand packaging and good performance, what's not to like? Do you remember these?
