Flashback Beauty Friday 27: MAC x Manish Arora
Post does not contain affiliate links or PR gifts.
I'm posting a little later because I decided to give you a big post today. Rather than concentrating on one item, I thought I'd share everything I bought from one limited edition collection. Firstly, if you're new here, welcome. Flashback Beauty Friday is a weekly feature taking a look back at older discontinued or limited edition beauty items and their packaging, just for fun and a little reminisce. Last week, I shared the Urban Decay cocktail flavoured glosses if you missed it.
For Autumn 2008, MAC teamed up with Indian fashion designer, Manish Arora. This collection, was unsurprisingly fun and bright, exactly like the explosion of colour and textures we see in MA's shows each season. Bright lips generally aren't my thing, but I still picked up some bits as I was so taken with the packaging.
I want to start with the boxes, which were utterly amazing. Each product had a different coloured box (lipgloss yellow, blush orange etc), which was reflected in their lids or compacts. The lip colours came with sleeves over the plain boxes. Even inside each box was a glossy, highly coloured print. A lot of colour makes me happy, so I really enjoyed this collection.
I'll quickly run through each piece, starting with the amazing Eyes On Manish, 6 Eye Shadows.
The metal rectangular yellow-gold palette, has a pink gloss insert with gold print and individual little heart shaped jewels all over the lid. It's definitely one of the more detailed and impressive outer compacts from MAC over the years.
Inside is a full size mirror, a little 213SE brush and of course the 6 eyeshadows. Nylon (ivory gold), Going Bananas (yellow), Bitter (lime), Playful (medium pink), Electric Eel (bold blue) and Deep Truth (shimmery, dark blue), prove this is not your average eye palette. It's been a long time since MAC have produced colourful palettes like this, they seem much more watered down/neutral these days. I've actually used this a lot over the years, when I fancy something bold. It's maybe not the best for solely using this, but I enjoy mixing it with other shadows.
The Sheertone Blush in Pink Swoon comes in a glossy orange compact. The clear lid insert bears the same gold pattern with coloured hearts rather than jewelled ones like the eye palette.
Not all colours in this collection were new shades. Playful from the eye palette for example was an individual eyeshadow in the Barbie collection and this lipstick, Girl About Town is a permanent colour. It's an Amplified Creme formula.
The final piece, is the Pink Manish Lipglass. Both the lid and clear tube are patterned and the gloss itself is a sparkly pink shade.
Isn't this such a fun collection? You know I'm a sucker for MAC limited edition packaging though! Do you remember this range?
