Festive Beauty: Day 4

I'm on my 4th day of a migraine, so I apologise that these posts have been published so late and today there's no Irregular Choice Festive Footwear on The Shoe Girl Diaries as I'm planning a double post tomorrow and just can't stare at a screen any longer today or I'll be sick. I still have a beauty treat at the bottom of this post and multiple seasonal pieces including a current one to share today. Yesterday if you missed it, was the lovely 2012 Paul & Joe makeup collection.
The first item today is the Too Faced Melted Matte (liquified matte long wear lipstick) in Cinnamon Bun, which is their 2021 holiday theme. For years now, TF have been playing around with the gingerbread theme, but this year it's cinnamon rolls, yum! This limited edition shade smells like fresh baked cinnamon rolls and I have to say it does have a warm, spicy scent.
This liquid lipstick comes with a slanted doe-foot applicator, applying wet like a gloss but drying down (eventually) to a matte finish. It's opaque in one swipe and I don't find it the most drying liquid matte I've ever used, though my preference is for creamy lipsticks or gloss.
You can never fault TF on their packaging, it's always adorable and I love that they incorporate the shade/scent/theme onto the printed lid. Cinnamon Bun is probably the most 'me' shade I've tried of this formula, much cooler toned than previous colours.
I've compared and swatched it alongside previous shades. The one that came first was Gingerbread Man. I think I'm getting the dates correct, that he came out for Christmas 2017. I got a mini version in 2019 in a festive set (I also have a proper lipstick of this colour, which I should've compared it to). GM has a more orangey tone, very rich and again one swipe and it's opaque. There's a definite difference in scent, but I'm not totally sure I'm getting gingerbread.
Then there's Gingerbread Girl. I bought this one in 2019 as a full-size shade, but I believe it was available the year before when they brought back GM. For some reason I expected GG to be lighter or less rich, but it's actually a darker brown. There's definitely a red tone to the deep brown, but it's lacking the orange that GM has. Again, similar scent...I feel I'm getting a hint of chocolate rather than gingerbread. Oddly the caps of GM and GG suit the opposite lipstick shade perfectly, it's like the lids have been switched (if it weren't for the handy girl/boy biscuit illustrations). In my swatches they are still a bit wet, but CB has dried down matte by this point.
GM is available in the Melted In Paris set this year and Cinnamon Bun separately. There's currently a free deluxe size of the Lip Injection Extreme when you spend £35 on Too Faced (no code required, will add to basket if in stock), as well as 20% off with code LFTASHLEIGHG, enjoy!
