Today we meet the 6th and final princess in the Irregular Choice Disney Princesses line, Belle from Beauty & The Beast! Did you spy Lumiere and the rose on the packaging? Belle will be launching alongside Ariel this Friday, so let's take a look at the final teaser. Another big reveal today, with a brand new character heel.
Character heels are always an exciting announcement, especially in Disney collections, but we haven't seen that many in recent releases. We were treated to a couple of stunning designs in each of the first collections (Mulan and Snow White), then the preview of water-globe heels last week with Ursula and Ariel figures inside and here we have another new concept in Enchanted Castle. It's a slightly different idea; a wedge with Belle and The Beast figures, but instead of being encased in perspex or a cage like we've seen previously, they are open. The figures sit under the instep and appear quite contained within the parameters of the shoe, despite looking a bit more 'exposed' than normal. If anything, I actually think I'd be less worried of wearing these than the likes of Glissade, Hop 2 It or Call Me Cinders. I fear the casing in those pops out and the creaking noise in the birdcages is a little scary! Belle is dressed in her yellow gown and The Beast is holding her gloved arm, guiding her to the dance floor. I love how they've incorporated that exact flooring from the animation into the base and also the underside of the shoe. The double platform and framework of the wedge heel are mirrored gold.
The uppers are a vibrant and very beautiful bold blue glitter. While both heels are the same, each shoe is slightly different. On one you have a printed image of the candlestick, Lumiere, sitting on the counter and up onto the ankle. Little teacup Chip sits across the toe.
The other shoe has teapot Mrs Potts on the front and the clock, Cogsworth on the back. I'm not mad about these printed characters, I do favour a proper embroidered applique like the Evil Queen and Snow White on Still The Fairest boots and bag or The Evil Queen shoes. There's iridescent stars sewn on the uppers and I do like the pastel swirl coming out of Mrs Potts and across into Chip. It's like the Genie coming out of the lamp on You Rubbed? from Aladdin. Iridescent material trims the top of the shoe with a bright pink on the edge.
As you can see from the soles, the wedge is a decent width and has a completely flat base, tilting up at the toes. The lining is yellow gold metallic with the usual branding and cushioned heart inside.
As with all the Disney Princesses, there's been kids styles for the first time and here we have the wonderful Beast boots.
It's a really fun little boot in blue metallic with deep purple accents.
Similar to the adult style, you have Lumiere on the side of one shoe and Cogsworth on the other.
Finished with a strip of gold metallic up the centre back, my favourite bit has to be the tongue with the head of The Beast encompassed by brown fur. The fuzzy fabric sits around the ankle and like a large flap across the shoe, closing with Velcro. There's even little claws on it. It looks awesome and really cosy for winter too!
As usual these ranges will include a selection of heel heights for adults, kids styles, bags and accessories. Both Belle and Ariel will launch online and in stores on Friday 6th December at 12pm. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook to be kept updated.
